"I was the one doing all the work while he at the juice bar kissing on Kimberly."
- Jason (Forever Red... They were right! Best Power Ranger mash up ever! I saw Andros and Tommy! *drools*)
I'm starting to think Power Rangers were the 1st to make walking away in slow motion from explosions cool. I might be wrong but, they give it movie realness.
But, that's not why I'm here.
I haven't had an installment of "Things That Bug Me" in awhile so here we go... What's bugging me? Hypocrisy.
Okay, so the other day at work we were talking about Keishawn's living arrangements. Out the clear, blue sky, Keishawn declares he doesn't want Michael living with him anymore because he thinks he's gay and wants him. Uh... huh? He knew everybody thought Michael was gay before he allowed him to move in. Still, that's not what bugged me. As an advocate for gay rights and all that is in between, what bugged me was when he said: "I'm not with that shit. It's a sin."
Say what now? 1st, I would like to say I am highly aware that not everyone has been educated nor do they wish to be when it comes to respecting the rights of their fellow man. My problem was the part where he said it's a sin. Time out! I started listing off all these things I know for a fact he does which are also, by his feeble "Christian" values, a sin. I was like: "What gives you the right to scream sin when you yourself don't do the right thing?!"
For once, I was not making a point to defend gay rights. (Tho' I did get to that part eventually) You wanna be a bigot, own it. Wear it like a shield. Wrap it around yourself like a blanket but, don't throw the Bible in there so it sounds as if you're in the right. I hate that.
If you disagree with people who are gay, to me, you're an idiot. 1st of all, since the dawn of time, someone has been fighting for rights. Someone, somewhere, at some point has always been paving the way for a particular group of people to have rights.
The people who were for slavery used the Bible as a platform. You know why? Believe it or not, there are scriptures that support it. I just don't understand how anyone can use the Bible as a platform when it practically condemns everyone and everything.
Pretty much, I was upset that he is against gay rights but, that's his baggage. What bugged me was that he used religion as a platform when he, himself is a sinner. PLUS, if you use the Bible to judge others, you're still a dipshit. Using the Bible to judge people makes you less "Christian" than all the people on your block.
And this is coming from somebody who classifies themself as only 1/6th Christian.
