thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/09/24/letterman-mccains-cancellation-not-funny/ Wow. Just wow. Summary, in internal dialogue form, because I have the day off and am enjoying it:
"Hmm... I, being John McCain, don't wanna go to Letterman's interview but Couric's interview sounds dreamy~... I know! I will lie and say I am going back to Washington, and go to Couric's interview after all! Nothing can go wrong, it's the perfect lie! I'll just give Letterman a call..... There! Down the street we go, no one the wiser! Man, I am so going to be an awesome president!"
*cue laugh track and theme music, fade to black*
Seriously, I know we've all used "the doing something else to get out of an obligation" card, but this was just poorly done. You are a major political figure, with people keeping track of your movement and current activities. What part of that says that you can play hooky and no one will ever suspect?? I don't blame Letterman for tearing into McCain at all, have at the old codger.
...This election is amusing as all hell, in the most depressing way possible.
*EDIT* Oh god, watching this is a joy and a pleasure, enjoy everyone, and remember to tip your Youtube.
