Singer Kim Dong Wan on the 17th entered the training center starting the 2 years of army duty.
Kim Dong Wan on the 17th at 1 o'clock entered the Choong Nam Gongju Army Boot Camp. On this day, Kim Dong Wan went into training camp after talking to reporters and being sent off by 200 fans who showed up.

Kim Dong Wan is the second member of Shinhwa to enter the army after Eric (Moon Jung Hyuk). After completing the 4 weeks of basic military training, he will be placed at the public service in the Seoul Seodaemun Agency fulfilling his duty.

▲ Those who came all the way here thank you. I will complete my 4 weeks of training and will be back. I amd thinking that you will all wait (for me). (much laughter)
- What did the Shinhwa members say.
▲ Eric said to make sure that to take the lotion and told me that it is very important to wear big shoes. This morning, I received a call telling me to return well completing the training camp. Through the phone. It was the first time that Eric talked to me about something so seriously.
- Your feelings on the upcoming training camp.
▲ I'm thinking that as I am entering (the army) late that I will be very diligent.

▲I will return after working hard. As I am entering (the army) late, for myself as well as for Korea. I will work hard. Also, as Eric and I are in the army, the others (Jun Jin, Andy, Lee Min Woo and Shin Hye Sung) will be working hard so please give Shinhwa members a lot of interest and support.

Shinhwa member Kim Dongwan (29) has enlisted at the 32nd Division Recruit Training Center at Gongju this afternoon, making him the 2nd Shinhwa member to enlist for military duty.
Wearing a black top and jeans to report for duty, Kim Dongwan said, "Although I'm enlisting at this age, I will still do my best. I believe that while the fans will wait for us while we're fulfilling our duties to the country."
When asked if the members said anything to him before this, he smiled and said, "Eric called me this morning. He told me to apply moisturizer, and wear boots that are a little bigger than my regular shoe size. That's the first time I heard Eric say things like that."
More than 200 fans from Korea, Japan, Taiwan, China and Hong Kong gathered to send Kim Dongwan off, and they even prepared a birthday cake for him to celebrate his birthday in advance. He was visibly moved by the gesture. Many fans stayed on even after he had left for the camp.
After his 4-week training course, Kim Dongwan will be back at Seoul serving as a public service officer at the Seodaemun-gu administrative office.

[news] Senior Eric's advice to Kim Dongwan
"When I got my hair cut on the 12th, it still felt like I was going to shoot a drama or movie, not going to the army. But as the weather turned cold today, the reality suddenly set in."
Shinhwa member and solo singer Kim Dongwan has started serving his military duty starting from 1pm on 17th Nov at Gongju's 32nd Division Recruit Training Center.
When our reporter got on the phone with Kim Dongwan on his way to Gongju, he said, "I was in a pretty good mood yesterday. Today it feels a little different, but I'm feeling at peace."
"Besides Junjin who was recording for his variety show, I had dinner with the other Shinhwa members on the 14th. As a public service officer himself now, Eric gave me serious advice for the first time. He told me to bring extra insoles, because the boots that are issued tend to be bigger than your regular shoe size."
During the phone interview Eric interrupted the call, and he was asking Kim Dongwan - who usually has his medicine all prepared - whether he had his medicine with him, and how he was feeling.
To which Dongwan replied, "I've got my flu tablets, indigestion pills, painkillers eric. And I've brought lotion and shampoo too."
Continuing the interview, he added, "The 4-week training will end on 12 Dec, and I'll be serving at an administrative office in Seoul. Although the training period is short, but it's still a period of time that's very significant, and I want to do it well."
Having released his first solo album in June 2007, Kim Dongwan has gone on to release his 2nd solo album this year, followed by his last single album before enlistment, featuring the tracks Promise and Can't Forget.
