Summary: Jonghyun had never been good at understanding people, especially when it came to his emotional rollercoaster of a boyfriend Key. And because of this, many fights were caused between the two. When a large fight breaks out between the couple on their three-month anniversary, Jonghyun swears that he would never be able to understand the irrational freak-chain of emotions that Kibum is. However, when Taemin suggests trying to put himself in Key’s shoes and Jonghyun accidently shocks himself on Key’s prized hair straighter, he awakes to find that he had obtained a strange and useful power. To read minds-Key’s mind, in fact.

             Key let out a breath and tried to clam himself down the best he could before approaching Taemin again. He had gotten so worked up with fear that what Taemin had explained happened to Jonghyun actually happened and that Jonghyun wasn’t really going to wake up when he asked him to. He couldn’t let Taemin see that, because Taemin had been so convinced that he had killed Jonghyun, that if he saw Key with anything less than perfect composure now, it was sure to throw him into another round of sobs, yelping and tight hugging (Key didn’t really feel like he had the strength to deal with a hysterical maknae right then, and if Onew or Minho came home while Taemin was in the middle of an emotional break down, they would be sure to blame it on him, even if it was Jonghyun’s fault).

However, as he walked out of the bedroom, into the living room to find a perfectly fine Taemin his sympathy and composure snapped. Taemin was happily sitting on the arm rest of the couch, watching some rerun of a poorly-animated cartoon on TV, while eating only the side dishes of bread and rice of the healthy and heart-friendly meal that Key had just slaved over for the last two hours. He didn’t even bother to look up at the one he had just clung onto so tightly that it was as if he was pleading for his life just a few minutes ago, or even the one who he had just balled his eyes out for as Jonghyun walked over and stood next to Key. He just continued to swing his legs happily, his eyes glued to the television as if none of the events that had taken place in the last fifteen minutes had ever happened.

Jonghyun, who had stupidly decided to follow Key, and now stood next to him, didn’t even have a chance to look at Taemin for much more than a single second before suddenly feeling Key’s knee digging into his stomach.

“YOU. STUPID. BASTARD!!!!” Key screamed at the top of his lungs. “You taught Taeminnie to LIE!?!?!”

Jonghyun’s eyes widened before shooting a betrayed expression at Taemin quickly, before suddenly becoming aware of his current danger under Key’s piercing eyes. He quickly looked away, hoping that if he stared off into nothing he would been given a good idea on how to cover himself (Minho always seemed to be staring off into nothing, and always found a way to get out of everything, it must work...) as he nervously thumbed the five-dollar bill (with Taemin’s name on it) that still remained in his pocket.

“I-I...” Jonghyun stuttered out, trying to think of an appropriate cover for himself. “...I-I didn’t teach him anything! I never taught him how to lie, he already knew that himself! I’m innocent here!!” He said quickly, upon finding something that seemed to be the most fitting for his situation without flat out lying (expect for the “I’m innocent” part...).

However, even if Jonghyun had managed to come up with an actually buyable or even a valid reason, it would have been pointless and not had helped him in the very slightest; for now Taemin glanced up and over at his hyungs, slowly becoming aware of the terrible Key-umma scolding and lecture he would be receiving if Jonghyun somehow managed to convince Key that he had lied on his own accord. He had to speak up before he got another utterly terrorizing and incredibly traumatizing Key-umma lecture about lying and telling the truth.

“Omo! Hyung! What flavor of ice-cream is better!?...Strawberry, Rockyroad or Mint Chocolate-chip? Which kind do you like more, Key-hyung? Strawberry is really sweet and yummy, and Mint Chocolate-chip is classic, but Rockyroad is more expensive, so I barely get a chance to eat any of it when I’m the one buying it....what kind would you choose, Hyung? I’m sure Jonghyun-hyung would love to buy you some too!!!” He chimed happily. “Sorry, Jonghyun-hyung....it’s a dog-eat-dog world out there....”

Jonghyun’s eyes nearly popped out of his head at Taemin’s betrayal, and his jaw dropped onto the floor, but he had to keep himself refrained from screaming at Taemin about how he was a two-timing little backstabber, for Key was standing right next to him, and he couldn’t allow for Key to find out about his ability. However, by not screaming at Taemin and exposing his ability, Jonghyun was left completely out of range for any other ways to defend himself from being accused, and thus left him completely defenseless to Key’s full fledged fury.

“You BRIBED him!?!?!” Key’s furious voice screamed, shattering Jonghyun’s ear drums as the angry diva-umma turned towards him furiously.

Jonghyun had no excuse (not that Key would have listened to any excuse he tried to make (no matter how impressive) anyway). So, he glanced down at his shoes and remained quiet and accepted the verbal and possible physical beating that Key was preparing.

Taemin made an apologetic whimper as he saw that Key had just lost all composure that he ever might have possessed, and glanced away from his hyungs quickly, shielding his eyes from the violent scene that was taking place. “It was either you or me, Hyung!! I’m sorry! I had no other choice! I’m really sorry, Jonghyun-hyung!!!!” Was the only thing he had the courage to think (which thus meant that it was the only thing that he could about saying to Jonghyun).

“You BRIBED our maknae with ICECREAM!?!!? SERIOUSLY!?!?!” Key screamed at the top of his lungs as continued to verbally and physically attack Jonghyun. “How could you do that!?! Do you have no morals!? Do you have any idea what kind of bad habits you’re teaching him!?!? Do you have any idea what kind of bad lifestyles come from being taught to lie and TAKING BRIBES from a young age!?! Taeminnie’s still young, and his mind is like a sponge at this age!! Do you want to see our little Taeminnie grow up to go to jail because he’s addicted to gambling, or because he’s a viscous loan-shark!?! Did you take the time to show him The Godfather and tell him ‘become this in the future,’ while you were at it!?!? Did you teach him how to kill!? Did you give him a gun!? Did you give him a smoke!? What else can you do to corrupt our maknae!?!” He ranted.

Jonghyun tried to stumble out of Key’s furious attack, but didn’t manage to fully escape Key’s angry fist’s reach, but there was no way for him to be able to fully escape. He only shot another look of betrayal at Taemin as Key continued to furiously whack him.

“Ooh man...it’s a really, really good thing I didn’t mention the fifteen dollar part of the deal....” Taemin thought slowly, as he watched his hyungs with big eyes.

Jonghyun’s eyes widened and shot up immediately as he heard Taemin’s thought. He quickly began shaking his head desperately, making X’s with his arms and whisper-screaming “SHHHHH!!!!!” as quickly as he could. This, however, only called Key’s attention to the fact that Jonghyun was still hiding something from him, and only full-on attacked him more viciously.

Taemin glanced down slowly, obvious guilt burning in the little one’s eyes as his long blonde bangs fell into his eyes and he made a sad expression as if he was wanting to cry. “I’m sorry...H-Hyung...I’m only hurting you two’s relationship more. I...was wanted to help you two out, b-but I got really selfish and told him because I didn’t want to get scolded. B-but I hurt your relationship, a-and I’m really sorry! I’m the one who should be getting beaten up. I’m sorry, Hyung! Sh-should I try to stop Key-hyung?” He thought slowly, glancing over at Jonghyun miserably.

Jonghyun blocked Key’s fists from hitting his face anymore, by putting his forearm in front of it, but shot Taemin a forgiving look. He was just too cute to be angry at with his crying face on, and he really couldn’t blame Taemin from doing everything in his power to escape a Key-umma lecture. Upon receiving the forgiving glance, Taemin half smiled and felt a little better, but glanced up quickly, upon noticing that the front door had opened and his two favorite hyungs made their way into the dorm, Onew trotting along happily with a Chicken Mexicana box.

“We’re hooome! With chicken! But we’re home-but mostly with chicken!!!!” Onew sang happily as he marched into the dorm, raising the Chicken Mexicana box above his head as he marched into the dorm proudly, as if he were showing off a master’s degree from Harvard University.

Taemin smiled happily at the sight of his two favorite hyungs coming home, before leaping off of the couch and running over to them giddily to greet them with hugs. Jonghyun glanced up from Key’s attack, but couldn’t say anything for the moment that the other two entered the dorm, his brain was filled with the flowing thoughts from his other bandmates.

There were Onew’s thoughts: “Chicken! Chicken! Chiicken! Yummy and delicious chicken! Don’t worry! I’ll take good care of you in my tummy! Chicken...chicken....chicken....chicken....etc.”

There were Taemin’s thoughts: “Hyungs! My favorite hyungs are finally home! (N-not that I don’t like Key-hyung or Jonghyun-hyung or anything...just....) I’m happy they’re back! Gimme hugs! Onew-hyung! Onew-hyung~~set down your chicken for a moment and give me a hug! Onew-hyung! On-oh forget it! I’m giving Minho-hyung a tighter hug, Onew-hyung! Forget you and your chicken, where’d Minho-hyung go?”

And then there was Minho. He seemed to glance over at Key attacking Jonghyun and Jonghyun might have heard him mutter out a thought of “Typical. Happy anniversary Hyungs...”, but, much like how he spoke, it was short, and to the point. Then he turned his attention to Taemin, who happily came at him with open arms, wanting a hug. “I get a hug before Onew-hyung?....heh...” Was all the thought, before getting tightly snuggled by Taemin and hugging back.

Jonghyun was going to raise an eyebrow at Minho’s thoughts, but was cut off by Key’s angry fist and Onew’s loud and overpowering thoughts about chicken.

“Chicken! I have chicken! My beautiful and handsome chicken!...would it be wrong to call chicken sexy? Oh! I don’t care, it is! C’mon chicken, I’ll show you around my house! And then I’ll show you my plate, and I’ll introduce you to my mouth and then you’ll get to meet my tummy! But, personally, I believe that you’ll get along most with my taste-buds!!!”

After about only a few moments of dealing with Onew’s obsessive and concerning thoughts about chicken, Jonghyun looked away from him and tried to block it out, hoping to hear someone else’s thoughts about something...you know...interesting? And, as soon as he managed to block out Onew’s obsessive mind-chatter, he managed to tune into Key’s thoughts, which were nearly the same as his own.

“Oh gwaaaaad! Seriously, it’s not normal for someone to be so obsessed with a processed food product! Uuugh, look at him over there! He’s my hyung? Ughh, he’s gwoggeling at it like it was his girlfriend or something, yuck...” The diva thought, placing his hands on his hips as he stopped attacking Jonghyun for long enough to scoff at his band-members.

Jonghyun couldn’t help himself but to laugh at Key’s critical comment and the pure look of disgust on his face as he stared at Onew with a look of almost disbelief, but the smile that had been put on his face was knocked off harshly as Key continued with his finicky other criticizing comments.

“Ugh. What’s with this band and their weird fetishes? We’ve got the oldest and the leader over there who might actually have a personal life if procreating with a fried piece of chicken was possible. We’ve got Minho and his hyung obsession, which might even be understandable if there were GOOD LOOKING guys in Super Junior and DBSK. We have Taeminnie who’s obsessed with the said psychopaths and all things cute....and...then...we have THAT one.” He thought, glancing over at Jonghyun. “Yeah, that one. The hopeless one smiling like a big idiot...” (And that was the point where Jonghyun’s smile dropped). “...and all of his weird-ass fetishes. He’s got like a billion of them, and they’re all so freaking weird! And the worst of them all is Romeo and Juliet! What kind of guy is obsessed with Romeo and Juliet? Auughhh, he’s so weird! Fetishes and obsessions aren’t healthy for anyone! Seriously!”

Jonghyun whimpered painfully and grabbed his throbbing heart. What was wrong with Romeo and Juliet!? The fans said that it was what made him unique and special. What’s wrong with....it’s not like Key didn’t have any weird fetishes or obsessions! He had a lot too! What gave him the right to citizen him? He had to get back at him.

“Ugh...Onew’s obsession with chicken sure is unhealthy!! You know, it’s almost as concerning as someone’s obsession with eye-makeup....” He muttered after a moment, smiling at his revenge against Key.

Key stopped in the middle of his judging, upon hearing Jonghyun’s rather offensive comment. What the hell was this all about? What was he attacking him so suddenly!? What caused for him to set in about his interest (yes, interest. Not obsession) with eye-makeup? He hadn’t even said anything about his Romeo and Juliet, Dinosaurs or ear obsessions! What did he do to deserve such spite!? He hid his slight hurt the best he could before turning to Jonghyun quickly.

“Wah, you know what, Jonghyun? You’re really striking out today! Are you trying to make yourself look like a total ass or does it just come naturally? Because, you do it so smoothly and so flawlessly that I’m really starting to believe that you’re a born-asshole. Really, if you’re trying, it’s really working!” He snapped quickly.

Jonghyun stopped completely as it occurred to him. Key hadn’t actually said anything about him, but he had heard it all the same. But, since it was never said, he naturally shouldn’t have heard it. And since he naturally shouldn’t have heard it, it means that he really shouldn’t have even known that Key had thought what he had thought, and therefore there would be no reason for Jonghyun to defend himself, and therefore would have no reason to say anything about Key’s obsession with eye-makeup, and therefore made his defense make him look like no more than a uncalled for prick. BUT! If Key had said his thoughts, his comeback would be completely and utterly fair on all grounds.

“A-ah, wait, Key...I didn’t mean it like that...” He started as Key spun on his heel and began to stomp away from him. However, he was only replied with sharp diva-feline eyes, shooting him dead and silent, staring through to his soul. He glanced down guiltily and stayed quiet as Key made some sort of angry yet hurt face as he spun back around.

“Is he trying to make me feel like crap or something!? First he acts sweet and perfect and then he’s suddenly a huge asshole and starts acting mean to me for absolutely no reason!? What’s he doing? Trying to make me feel like total crap?? Well, he’s doing a good job!” He thought quickly as he walked hurtfully back into the kitchen to tend to his deprived dinner.

“You really can be a prick sometimes, Jonghyun. I hope you know that.” Key growled as he walked away. “And, I just hope that you know that there are consequences to mistreating others. If you wake up and find them gone one day, I just hope that you know why they don’t want to be around you anymore...epically your boyfriend.”

“Ooooh, dis!” Minho’s thoughts sounded. The kind of comment that would normally cause for Jonghyun to snap furiously if had been said out loud, but Jonghyun was too sore to do anything about the harshly truthful statement, and as Key’s real feelings suddenly became very clear to him.

“And that’s Key, and that’s Jonghyun, Chicken.” Onew’s thoughts suddenly narrated. “They’re together, but I don’t know for how long they’re going to be like that. You know, Key’s actually pretty secretively sensitive, but Jonghyun’s really just plain oblivious.” Onew thought, as he continued his introduction to the world of SHINee to his favorite piece of chicken (the one he found most beautiful in the current world), as he stared dotingly at it.

Suddenly, out of nowhere, as Key came stomping over to Onew and the kitchen, the barely balanced and rarely maintained peace of the SHINee-dorm crumbled like a stale cookie under a thousand pound weight. For Key had suddenly lost his brain, or so it seemed, for he had carelessly and harshly snatched Onew’s favorite and doted piece of chicken out his hand, and the Chicken Mexicana box out of his hand before tossing the beloved piece of chicken into the trashcan, and the box of chicken feelinglessly into the fridge.

“I made a wholesomely nutritious homemade soup, with some actual protein and nutrients unlike this junk!! You’re eating my food. No chicken tonight!” The evil diva-umma demanded as he marched crankily into his domain (aka, the kitchen).

All at once, all six eyes of the remaining members of SHINee shot up quickly at the same time to see Onew’s reaction. Eyes of the aware Minho shot up, eyes of the far-too-experienced Jonghyun shot up and the eyes of the tragically oblivious Taemin glanced up happily.

Jonghyun swallowed the best he could nervously before slowly bringing his hand to his mouth to bit his nails in hopes to settle his nerves as he watched Key throw the chicken heartlessly into the fridge. “Oh shiit! Onew’s going to kill him! He’s really gonna kill him!! This is bad! Very, very bad!!” He thought quickly, before looking nervously over at Onew again.

Dark clouds of hatred bubbled in Onew’s eyes and shadowed over his head. Angry thunder sounded and lightning of despise stuck one of the counters near Key. Onew’s eyes were went dark and fogged over with pure evil as he continued to burn holes into Key’s back as his hatred bubbled and boiled inside of him.

And, then came the thoughts. The thoughts of a true dark evil-lord of evil and all things evil in the whole entire evil realm of evil. Thoughts so dark, so evil, so spiteful that it would be contraband to repeat them and write them down. Jonghyun had never once believed that he still possessed much innocence left anymore, but as he heard the dark and simply too intense and dark to be repeated thoughts, he felt as if he was were a sheltered eight-year-old who had just been expose to all of the profanities of the adult world at once. He began to sweat and swore that he would no be able to sleep for the next six years.

Suddenly, Onew’s dark, dark and oh-so-very very concerning thoughts were cut off from Jonghyun’s ears by the unfortunately far-too-innocent and oblivious thoughts of the happy little Taemin, who was standing far too close (about seven feet away) to Onew for his own safety.

“Ah? Yay! Key-hyung took Onew-hyung’s chicken away for a while!! Maybe Hyung will pay attention to me again and play with me! Maybe he’ll finally give me a hug now!”

Jonghyun’s eyes widened as the sound of Taemin’s innocent thoughts sounded. He looked up quickly, only to see Taemin happily and obliviously making his way towards the extremely temperamental and dangerous Onew with wide open arms, hoping for a hug. Then, suddenly, with only the slightest step forward from Onew, Jonghyun’s eyes switched back to him in a heart-beat as he noticed Onew, who was lurking towards Key with murderous intent in his eyes. Jonghyun knew immediately that he had to act, and that he had to act fast if he was ever going to save either of them.

“Minho! Restrain Taemin!!! Quickly!!!!” Jonghyun shouted quickly as Taemin wandered dangerously close to the should-be-caution-taped-off Onew-of-death zone.

Minho glanced up quickly and looked at Taemin before taking no moment’s hesitation to grab the unexpecting maknae (causing for the little one to shout out quickly) and pull him back to safety, a good fourteen feet away from the danger zone.

With the maknaes successfully evacuated and safely out of the way, it was up to Jonghyun to save the target of Onew’s evil wishes and the target of his evil hobbling, and get him safely outside of Onew’s insane anger fire-zone, get him to somewhere safe and save him before it was all too late.

With Onew’s profanities still blasting through Jonghyun’s ears, he raced forwards, having to get to Key before the murderous Onew did.

“KIIIBUM GET DOOOOOOWN!!!!” Jonghyun screamed as he ran in slow-mode to Key, before quickly grabbing him from behind and tackling him onto the couch, then leaning above him to shield him from the war-missiles shooting out of Onew’s eyes.

Taemin glanced up from hiding behind Minho’s bicep (which was fully flexed around the maknae in order to threaten Onew away from them and fully protect him), to watch Onew scowling at Jonghyun’s thorough protection of Key (aka, squashing him completely under his entire body weight, smashing the diva’s face into the couch), before growling at the fact that his thirst for blood could not be quenched at the current moment, then crawling back to the fridge to snag back his chicken box, not forgetting to growl at Key as if he wanted to bite his head off as he crept back into the bathroom, locking the door behind him and his chicken.

Taemin shivered a little with fear before falling back onto Minho and pulled his arm more around him in order to feel more protected. “O-ooh....Onew-hyung can be really terrorizing! T-t-to think that I nearly went up to hug him right then...th-thank goodness Minho-hyung was here...” He thought slowly.

Minho sighed with relief as Onew locked the door behind him and his chicken before glancing back at Taemin. “Thank god I saved him...there’s no knowing what Onew-hyung would do if anyone got near him. Jonghyun-hyung managed to save Key-hyung too.” He thought, before sighing again. However, when he sighed again he noticed the way that his breath blew Taemin’s long honey colored hair around and stopped thinking about the dark and unhappy evil which had just consumed SHINee’s leader. “How is it that Tae-ah always smells like honey...?”

Jonghyun was about to shutter at one of the most disgusting things he had ever thought about (“2Min, auuugh!”) when all of a sudden he heard a low karate yodel from under him and was flying off of Key, onto the ground with Key’s foot lodged in his stomach, before he could even form a thought.

“Huuuaaaahh!!!” Key yelled as he karate kicked Jonghyun off of him quickly. “Get off of me, you rapist!!” He snapped quickly.

Jonghyun went flying backwards quickly before landing harshly on the ground, falling onto his butt. He whimpered a little at the fact that he had just been called a rapist, and that he had just be kicked less-than-politely in the stomach by someone who he viewed as the love of his life. He was about to whimper again and complain about always being in the abusive relationship that he was currently involved in, when he suddenly heard Key’s thoughts.

“Aish....I just wish that we weren’t fighting...” Key thought slowly as he got himself off of the couch and turned away from Jonghyun before he could see the obvious expression of disappointment on his face. “I just wish that Jonghyun and I could just be happy together like normal couples for once. If we hadn’t been fighting, I wouldn’t have to keep up this act anymore, and, that pervious position would have been a lot more comfortable.” He sighed slightly before making his way into the kitchen.

Jonghyun blinked a few times before slowly getting up from the floor and starting to creep after Key, just slowly enough to keep looking at him and keep being within hearing distance, but not to cause suspicion against him.

Key sighed before looking down at the stove, the obvious disappointment still painted all over his seamless face as he stared down at the pot of un-touched soup on the stove, now getting cold. “Huhh...why do we have to fight today? I just wanted to come home today, take a shower to cool off, then make Jonghyun a romantic dinner, then maybe eat just with him on the deck outside.” He thought slowly.

“But...I should have expected it would end up like this; crying so hard while making a common dinner of Kimchee soup, and accidently dropping the salt lid into the mix and pouring three-fourths of the container into it. It seriously tastes like I just boiled it in saltwater and served it up with red seaweed. And, even, if we weren’t fighting, I wouldn’t have been so temperamental with Onew and thrown his chicken away. At least then we would have had something edible to eat. Huhh...I’m just so disappointed that it seems to be impossible for Jonghyun and I to have a normal, romantic anniversary. And besides that...what am I going to do with the chocolate and candles that I bought today, now that we’ve already broken up? Why does Jonghyun have to be such an asshole? Why can’t we just be a normal and happy couple? Now he’s all of a sudden crushing me into the couch like that...what an inconsiderate jerk...” He thought, sadly.

Jonghyun looked up quickly before stumbling after Key the best he could, chasing after him into the kitchen to try to catch him. “W-wait, Key!! I was saving your life from a demon-possessed Onew!! I didn’t mean to be inconsiderate towards you! Come back already!! Don’t get pissed off at me!! Come baaack!” He called quickly.

Key stopped once he reached the kitchen and sighed one more time before wiping his disappointed pout off of his face as Jonghyun reached him. He couldn’t let Jonghyun see how disappointed he was not to have a romantic anniversary, so he had to keep acting. He quickly looked away from his ex-boyfriend before grabbing a coffee cup and plopping a few oh-so-unappetizing globs of his strong-smelling creation of Salty-Kimchee soup into the coffee cup sloppily, before shoving the cup into Jonghyun’s hands as he drew near him, causing for Jonghyun to make a face at the unfriendly-looking red goulash before looking back up at him.

“Eat the food that I made you.” Key said after a moment, unfeelingly. “You need all the nutrients that you can get, in the dense hope of mine that you might actually grow a brain, or perhaps a heart...(or at least of these impossible things, a few inches)...” He muttered harshly.

Jonghyun’s heart was crushed, but his anger and pain were immediately cut off by the thought that ran through Key’s mind as he shoved the cup into his hands before turning around quickly.

“Oh man...the more I think about how nice tonight could have turned out...the more I become disappointed and upset about this whole situation. Now that things have already come to this point, all I want to do is go to bed and brood for a while. Stop following me, Jonghyun.” He thought sadly, as he stomped away like a brooding eight-year-old who had just been denied his request of candy.

Jonghyun opened his mouth quickly to reply to Key, but he was stopped by having Key just walk into the bedroom, and slam the door behind him, only allowing for him to hear one more quick thought running across Key’s mind. A quiet thought that Jonghyun knew he wouldn’t have wanted him to hear, but was completely honest and truthful, and that made him feel terrible.

“I just wish that we could just both be as understanding with each other as we were three months ago-when we first got together in the first place. B-but...I did know that something as peaceful as that couldn’t last between us anyway. Maybe we really just weren’t meant to be together, if we can’t seem to understand each other at all.”

Key’s thoughts sadly echoed in Jonghyun’s ears, causing for him to stare down at the floor shamefully.

The sun had long been absent from the sky, and now the cold blue moonlight shined in through the windows of the small dorm, shining a blue and cold light onto the empty pillows of the other’s futons as Key laid silently on his own, staring a few futons away at Jonghyun’s empty bed. He had been in there for an hour prior and had only laid in silence, trying not to cry of the seemingly dead-end relationship that he knew he wanted and needed so badly.

Suddenly, there was a slight creaking of someone stepping on the floorboards outside of the bedroom and the bedroom door suddenly opened and light streamed in from the still active living room, even though it was already late at night. Key glanced up quickly, but immediately clamped his eyes closed tightly as he noticed the silhouette of Jonghyun painted black against the stream of light.

“Pretend to be asleep! That way, he wouldn’t dare wake me up and try to talk to me again, ultimately resulting in hurting my feelings again.” Jonghyun heard Key think quickly, as he noticed him shift under his blankets some more, trying to look asleep.

Jonghyun sighed quietly, feeling shameful of Key’s thoughts. Did he really hurt him so much, even when he had absolutely no intention of hurting him? He glanced down slowly and thoughtfully before quietly shutting the door behind him, and starting to make his way to Key’s bed, gently sitting next to him and softly placing his hand on Key’s shoulder, leaning over him slowly and lightly kissing his cheek.

“Yeobo....Kibum...are you still angry with me?” Jonghyun whispered after a moment, still sitting on the bed next to Key. “I’m sorry that we fought before...let’s just stop all this fighting and make up again, okay? I never meant to make you upset with me like this. I’m sorry for everything I said to you. I didn’t mean it...” He muttered, quietly.

Key stiffened a little when Jonghyun’s lips softly brushed his cheek, but didn’t move, continuing to lay still on his side, starting stubbornly at the wall to conceal his emotions behind his stubborn act. “What’s he doing?? He just thinks that I’ll let him do that again, just so quickly? I know that I still want to be together again...but how can he just be so confident like that?” He thought quickly.

“Get off of me. You’re so stupid, thinking that I would just forgive you like that? You’re so frickin’ over-confident! You smell like shit! Go away!” He growled furiously in one low breath.

Jonghyun half laughed before leaning over him and kissing his ear again. “I smell like your Salty-Kimchee Soup, that’s what I smell like. I ate like half the pot, no exaggeration.” He said quietly, smiling still.

Key opened his eyes and glanced over his shoulder towards Jonghyun (who, Mr. Skinship, had gone to happily snuggling his head between his shoulders and cuddling him closely), before making a face. “You wh-what...?” He asked after a moment, quietly.

Jonghyun smiled contently, taking that fact that Key hadn’t smacked him off of him to his advantage and happily slipped into Key’s futon next to him and kissed his shoulder, but tried his best to swallow back the salt that was still in his throat from his less-than-enjoyable dinner, feeling sick again just by thinking about it.

Five Minutes Earlier

“A-are you sure you wanna do this, Hyung? I mean, Key-hyung won’t know that you didn’t eat all of it, as long as you smell like it, and put the other half down the sink. I-I mean, I know that Key-hyung worked hard on it, b-but it’s so salty and smells so bad...I don’t think it’s safe to eat it.” Taemin muttered after a moment, his normally bright and sunny little face turning green at the very sight of the lumpy Salty-Kimchee Soup, still clutching onto Minho’s arm, as if he was afraid that a Kimchee monster would leap out of the sloppy soup at any moment.

Minho seemed to nod his head in agreement, but Jonghyun tried his best to ignore the two younger boys trying to discourage him of something that he would gladly not do, but felt as if he had to. “There’s no choice, guys. Kibum worked hard on making this nutritious and delicious meal for us. After all that he’s done for us, we have to eat and enjoy this!!” He forced himself to say strongly, with that forcing himself to stuff a huge bite of the salty death into his mouth.

Both jaws of Taemin and Minho dropped as they sat completely silent, sitting across the table from him, leaning over towards it in order to see closer, but not too close in fear that it may result in the death of them, watching closely enough to see if their crazy hyung was really eating spoonful after spoonful of the Salty-Kimchee-Stew-Of-Death that he was stuffing into his mouth.

With just a few tears and quiet a few whimpers, Jonghyun had finished his second bowl of soup, and now started on his third, becoming encouraged by the younger boys’ thoughts.

“Awwha, Jonghyun-hyung! You’re so sweet! You’re doing all of this for Key-hyung, aren’t you? It’s soo cuute! When Key-hyung finds out all that you’re doing all of this for him, I’m sure that he’ll feel really flattered and love you a lot! I knew that you really cared so much for Key-hyung, but you’re even as extreme enough to sacrifice your taste-buds for him! It’s really romantic....” Taemin thought happily as he stared at Jonghyun, but accidently let a thought slip that he hadn’t meant for his hyung to hear. “I wonder if ‘hyung’ would do that for me...?” He thought slowly, unfortunately for Jonghyun only using the word hyung, and not the name of the one he liked, leaving Jonghyun to stop and wonder, until he was suddenly encouraged to continue doing his heroic deed by Minho’s thoughts.

“Huh.” Minho thought, after a long moment, glancing back down towards the table again. “Jonghyun-hyung is actually pretty admirable, doing all of this to make Key-hyung feel better about himself. It’s actually pretty admirable. Who knew?”

This only caused for Jonghyun’s confidence to skyrocket and he smiled widely, grabbing his spoon again and stuffing another huge bite into his mouth. Perhaps having to stuff down a whole pot of Salty-Kimchee-Soup was some sort of ironic justice that Jonghyun had to pay for because of the ways he might have mistreated Key in the past, but to hear the maknaes say that, filled him with self confidence, and he quickly took a whopping spoon-full straight from the pot and stuffed it into his mouth quickly. The younger two seemed to shutter at the sight and smell, and looked sympathetic as Jonghyun’s face turned green again, but Jonghyun continued on despite the fact that he felt as if he were drinking salt water. His Key and his Key’s happiness were more important than his taste-buds.

~~~~~~~~~~~
Key continued to lay on his side, facing away from Jonghyun, but allowed himself to smile and let out a quiet half-laugh as he continued to smell the stinky evidence in Jonghyun’s breath, as Jonghyun went on and on about how he ate the whole entire pot (or at least most of it), just because he knew that his precious Key had made it just for them and that he loved anything that he made for them. Jonghyun smiled as well and snuggled himself closer to Key as he heard his thoughts.
“Oh, Kim Jonghyun…you are the stupidest romantic I have ever met.” Key thought fondly as he let out his half-laugh and placed his head back against the pillow again, staring fondly towards the wall so Jonghyun couldn’t see his fondness. “When couples fight with each other…don’t people normally get their lovers flowers or chocolates when they want to apologize again? Instead of gassing them out with rancid breath? Jonghyun, you’re so stupid….perhaps that’s what I love most about him…”
Jonghyun paused his speech of how great he was for doing all he did for Key, and dropped a content kiss on the younger boy’s shoulder, pulling him closer against him and snuggled more, smiling lighter as he noticed that Key didn’t protest in the slightest and only tried to pretend that he hadn’t noticed, before continuing on again, enjoying each of Key’s quiet laughs.
“Well…” Key finally muttered after a moment of listening to Jonghyun’s speech. “…did you like it? I could make it again for you another time if you want to eat some more. It was a special recipe, but I would gladly remake it again just for you.”
Jonghyun laughed at this again before dropping a kiss against the back of Key’s ear gently. “Yeah, I’m sure you’d be thrilled to make it for me again. I’m positive you’d really love seeing me eat another half-pot of that stuff again.” He muttered after a moment, thinking of how he could just already see Key laughing his face off as he suffered through yet another pot-of-death.
Key half laughed quietly but continued to lay in Jonghyun’s arms as Jonghyun leaned over him to leave a soft kiss against his cheek. “I really could make you some more, Jonghyun. I only made a small pot tonight, and you only got to eat half of it this time. I could really make you some more, and the next time you won’t have to share with the other members. It could just be special for you.” He said after a moment, trying his best not to let Jonghyun tell how glad he was that he was there snuggling and kissing him again instead of fighting with each other.
Jonghyun gnawed his lip in hopes to hide his obvious fear of Key’s seemingly empty promises being fulfilled. “Then…you’ll eat it with me next time, right? I mean…you can’t just slave over a hot pot of death without sharing in its deliciousness with me, right?” He asked, after a moment.
Key smiled before shaking his head slowly. “Nah, I’ll pass on eating with you. It’s just not salty enough for my taste, you know? Anyway, it’s a special recipe just for you, I couldn’t eat it. I just want to make it for you every day and watch you enjoy it yourself.” He said, laughing happily to himself.
Jonghyun stopped completely. He knew he had to do something before Key actually acted on that offer of his of him serving Salty-Kimchee-Death for every meal for the rest of his life. “U-u-uugh, but if it’s so special, you shouldn’t make it every day, right? Otherwise it’ll lose its specialness. So, it’s can’t be served every day. I want your wonderful creation to be special, you know…?” He tried, doing his best to sweet-talk his way out of the grave he had dug for himself.
Key glanced down for a moment. “Only my stupid little Jonghyunnie is the only one in this world who would actually take this seriously, isn’t he? Huh, I’m in love with an idiot, but I’m actually starting to accept it. How weird…” He thought slowly, half smiling fondly to himself. “Oh well…I’ll accept it. He’s my adorable puppy of an idiot-boyfriend. I’ll just keep playing with him for now…I’m just glad we’re not fighting anymore.”
“Well, I guess you’re right for once, Jonghyun.” Key said after a moment, trying to ignore the fact that Jonghyun suddenly stopped freaking out and became even more confident, snuggling closer to him yet. “Then, I’ll make you a deal and say that I’ll only serve it on special occasions. I’ll make it for you as your present on special occasions, Christmas, and your birthday. That way it’ll keep it’s specialness in your heart. And maybe I’ll save some money seeing on how I won’t have to buy you anything else special because my hand-made soup is better than anything else, right?” He asked, contently.
Jonghyun laughed at this but wasn’t afraid of Key’s seriousness anymore (thanks to hearing his thoughts), so he managed not to freak out this time. “But…are you sure that’s what you want? Do you really want to serve it for all special occasions, only eating it all the time? Only having the taste of Salty-Kimchee-Stew-O-Death in your mouth all the time?” He asked slyly as he smiled widely, climbing over Key to reach him better.
Key noticed Jonghyun leaning over him more, and glanced up (for Jonghyun had now pretty much climbed over him by then) at Jonghyun suspiciously. “I-I already told you, didn’t I? It’s not salty enough for me so I won’t be eating it…why would I have the taste stuck in my mouth?” He asked, feeling just slightly nervous, as he stared up at Jonghyun, who was now smiling suspiciously above him. “Wh-what are you trying, Jonghyun? Don’t try to pull anything tricky.” He thought quickly.
Jonghyun only smiled contently before quickly leaning over Key, finding his lips and beginning to kiss him, giving him a taste of his own medicine (or, really, Salty-Kimchee-Soup). “Like this…” He muttered contently, as he leaned his lips away from Key’s only for long enough to look back at him.
Key only stayed still for a moment and looked up at him with his big eyes, before quickly regaining his diva and struggling under Jonghyun, pretending to spit (although, truth be told, Jonghyun’s kiss did still taste like the nasty soup) towards the wall. “Ugghhh! Gross! Jonghyun, you’re such a disgusting creature! Ughk…I don’t know what tasted worse; the Kimchee soup, or your kiss, but I’m thinking that it was you that tasted like hell! When was the last time you brushed your teeth!? Why are you so disgusting with everything you do? Why won’t you ever take me and my oral comfort into your consideration before you just invade my mouth with your filth!? You’re disgusting! Don’t ever do that again! Yuck!” He spat out quickly, whacking Jonghyun harshly, working hard to continue his act of disgust. However, his thoughts gave him away immediately. “Kiss me. Kiss me again, Jonghyun, dammit! Why’d you stop? (Although I do wish he had brushed his teeth before coming to bed…) Just kiss me again!”
Jonghyun only smiled contently at Key’s cute little act (well, Key’s diva was really less-than-adorable, but it really was cute when you actually knew that it was an act), before obliging to Key’s inner commands and he began to kiss him again. Key pretended to struggle under him for a moment, but Jonghyun was only made even more cocky with every thought that unexpectantly ran through Key’s mind as Key finally allowed himself to stop with his diva act and protest, feeding his ego with thoughts like:“Mnn…? S-since when did the stupid little puppy Jonghyunnie become such a good kisser?” or, “I guess this wasn’t the least romantic anniversary ever then.” and even, “I guess I’ll get to use those chocolates and candles tomorrow then…”.
Key smiled under Jonghyun after a moment as their lips slowly parted, before slowly running his hands down from his cheeks to his collarbones lingeringly. “Sorry, Jjong…but if I just let you get away with this, it’ll look like I lost this argument. Can’t have that happen right? Sorry, babe…besides, it’s almost 9-19…you’ll see then, baby…” He thought slowly, causing for Jonghyun to stop and look at him curiously, before suddenly seeing Key make an agitated face and push hands off of his collarbones harshly, causing for him to go flying off of him, over the edge of the futon.
“Idiot!!” Key snapped quickly and furiously, as he quickly sat up in his bed again, glaring angrily at Jonghyun (who had been sent half way across the room by then). “What do you think you’re doing!? That’s something that couples do! It seems that you forgot that a certain someone got dumped today! Don’t be so cocky all the time and think that I’ll just forgive because you ate my food! That was a given!”
Jonghyun sighed before dropping his head back down. “Even if I can read his mind, I’ll never understand why this guy does the things he does…” He thought slowly, staring down at the blankets under him, waiting for Key to think of something so he would at least of something to say. “I thought you said that you didn’t want to fight anymore! Why can’t we just be together again! I said I was sorry, so why can’t we just get back together!? I wasn’t to blame for the fight this evening, why won’t you just accept my half of the apology and apologies back!? You’re to blame more than me!” He asked quickly, unintentionally becoming agitated.
Key growled something low before rolling his eyes and looking away from Jonghyun, crossing his arms oh-so-sassily as held his breath stubbornly. “Why can’t you just grow up and mature already, Jonggie, and say that it doesn’t matter who started it. I’d take you back if you would just admit we were both wrong. (Besides, I can’t help the fact that I like it when Jonghyun begs me to do things…)” The still-not-understandable diva thought, as he continued looking away stubbornly.
Jonghyun dropped his head again as he heard Key’s thoughts. He had always thought that Key was at least a little more sensible when it came to the thoughts that went behind the things he did, not just things like the egomaniac liking it when he is begged for things, but when he thought about it, the true motivation behind things really backed up his side on arguments too. However, he couldn’t help it. He was willing to drop his pride this time. He just wanted Key to be with him again, and not to be dumped anymore. He would play into what Key wanted this once. Besides, it never hurt to make Key think him as irresistible. The whole plan behind his new found skill was to make Key see that he understood him better then anyway.
“Fine…I admit…” Jonghyun muttered, rubbing his poor abused collarbones, as he crawled near to Key again, climbing back onto the futon (causing for Key to raise a fist as Jonghyun reached out and took his cheeks between his first two fingers and thumb, making him look back at him). “…it doesn’t matter who started the fight today, okay? I was wrong, and you were wrong too. We were both to blame, and what happened today has no reason as to why it had to have happened. It didn’t have to happen. Let’s just forgive and forget for once. Otherwise we’ll be up all night battling each other like this. From now on, I promise I’ll be better to you and understand you better, ‘kay? You try to understand me better too. So, let’s hurry up and make up again. Be my girl again, Kibum, and I’ll be yours again.” He said, after a moment.
Key stopped for a moment, before slanting his eyes angrily at him again. “Be your GIRL!? Are you SERIOUS, Jonghyun!?!? How tacky, cheap, and un-romantic can you get, dumbass? Even though I’m a thousand times more gorgeous than any stupid girl, I’M A BOY, take me seriously when asking me to be with you again. I was going to forgive you until you said that! You’re so stupid, Jonghyun! Besides, it’s eleven fifty-eight, I just have a little longer to make him beg.” He thought angrily, but “No.” was all he said in response.
Jonghyun let out a breath before mentally jotting down the fact that Key wasn’t too fond of being called his “girl/girlfriend’, even though he thought it sounded gangsta and made him look even cooler than he already was, before looking back up into Key’s eyes, trying for a second time. “Alright…I’m sorry. Let me be completely serious and honest with you this time.” He started. “Please forgive me for all the times I mistreated you. Forgive me for all the times that I was completely un-understanding towards your feelings. Please forgive all these things, and realize that I am asking you with my full heart to take me back. Please give me another chance as your boyfriend, and try again to be mine, because I love you fully and completely, and I could never imagine life without you. You’re the first and only person I have ever loved, Kim Kibum. You are the most amazing boy I have ever met. You’re gorgeous and talented and have been my best friend for the first day I met you. Please give me another chance, Kibum.”
Key seemed to falter with his act as Jonghyun said each true and sentimental word from his heart, before quickly glancing over at the clock. He had to bit his lip and wait for three seconds before he suddenly noticed that the clock finally switched to 12:00am, and smiled widely before turning back to Jonghyun quickly, knocking the unexpecting older over onto the futon with a anxious kiss. “Okay! We can be together again now! But our new anniversary is September nineteenth, 9-19, okay? 6-18 was too hard to remember for a yearly anniversary, and 9-19 sounds better.” He said hastily. “Now kiss me again…it was really hard to keep acting like was angry at you still for the last twelve minutes, just so we can have a nice anniversary date!” He thought quickly.
Jonghyun stayed still under Key, but didn’t move from his kisses. It didn’t make sense. Key didn’t make sense. Period. End of sentence. Kim Kibum did not make sense. That was the only conclusion that he could think of. Being able to read his mind or not, Key didn’t make sense. Jonghyun wondered if he should even just stop trying to find the reason behind the things he did, but it didn’t matter at the moment. All he knew was that Key forgave him, and loved him. All he knew was that Key was now all of a sudden on top of him, kissing him, and he was just laying there doing nothing like a shocked idiot. He smiled lightly before wrapping his arms around Key again, moving him off of him and laying him back onto his own futon before beginning to kiss him again.
Key half smiled as Jonghyun kissed him and let out a content breath. “Before when I was laying in here alone, I wondered why I just couldn’t have a simple and romantic romance with Jonghyun, the way that everyone else seems to have with their lovers. I almost cried when I realized that something like that was impossible for me and Jonghyun…” He thought slowly, as he wrapped his arms around Jonghyun’s neck, allowing for the shorter to lean over him and kiss him more passionately. “…but, I finally realized something. I’m in love with a un-normal idiot. Romance with him can’t be normal…a-and I don’t want it to be normal. I love his abnormalities and the fact that he’s a total unorthodox of a lover. I think…that this right now is perfect…” He closed his eyes lighter and smiled lightly to himself under Jonghyun’s kisses.
Jonghyun smiled more at Key’s thoughts before allowing himself to climb on top of Key, focusing more on his love for Key, and forgetting about the unlocked door behind him, and the fact that Onew was still lurking in and out of the bathroom, stealing his beloved piece of chicken out of the trashcan and sneaking back into his layer, and the fact that Taemin and Minho were still snuggled up on the couch together eating icecream and watching the last half hour of The Little Mermaid on television, creating the perfect chance for any of the three to walk in and ruin everything. Which was exactly what they did.
It was at the very moment that Key finally surrendered his pride of not showing Jonghyun how much he wanted him, and began playing with the collar of his shirt, when all of a sudden the door was pushed open and in came the once demon-possessed Onew, only smiling widely ear to ear with his big Jinki-smile, screaming Onew Condition as he drug himself into the room comfortably, still full of love and sunshine from the three extra-large boxes of Chicken Mexicana that he had stuffed down his throat during the last few hours, but exhausted from smiling too much. He opened the door and immediately saw Jonghyun’s anger filled eyes screaming “GO AWAY!”, before shrugging it off and glancing back towards Key’s agitated (this time agitated with both him and Jonghyun) eyes. As Onew spotted Key, the sunshine faded from his smile for a moment and he stared murderously at him for a moment, before regaining the happiness and love that his chicken had given him and literally falling face-first onto his futon, and falling dead asleep.
Both Jonghyun and Key stopped completely and stayed exactly where they had stopped, as they watched their leader fall face-first onto the bed and immediately fall dead asleep without even a moment to get into a comfortable position. Neither of them said anything, and really, neither of them even thought anything besides along the lines of “What’s he doing?”, “Is he really asleep aleady?”, and “Why the hell did he have to come in NOW!?!?”. Each of those thoughts crossed both of their minds as they stared down the snoring Onew for about a minute.
After a about just a minute, Jonghyun’s attention was pulled off of hating Onew by a thought that ran across Key’s mind. “Dammit, why does Onew-hyung have to come a ruin everything again? He couldn’t have come in an hour earlier, or an hour later? Aigoo, what a waste. Now I have to find a way to get Jonghyun off of me already.” He thought agitatedly.
Jonghyun shot an angry glance back at Onew, feeling his anger for the snoring boy, oblivious to the crime he had just committed against Jonghyun, doing one few things anyone could do to make Jonghyun more furious than thought possible (next to calling him short, and insulting any of the singing he poured his soul into [yes, both of which Onew had committed before]), before suddenly feeling a soft hand caressing his cheek gently, and the softness of Key’s light and gentle kiss on his cheekbone.
“Don’t get upset…it’s more of an anniversary night activity anyway, not early morning day of. I’m tried already anyway. Let’s just go to sleep.” He muttered, pushing the other off of him, and crawling back into his futon. “But…he could still sleep next to me. Snuggling isn’t against the law to do in front of other people.” He thought slowly, making Jonghyun fell a little bit better.
~~~~~~~

Thus, an hour later, the poor exhausted Minho came into the bedroom, carrying a dead asleep Taemin on his back, only to find Jonghyun spread out, laying across half of his bed, half of Key’s bed, and even half of Key. Minho wondered how someone as short as Jonghyun could manage to take up so much space at once, but let out a quiet groan as he glanced towards his occupied bed, which happened to be placed next to Taemin’s, before glancing back towards the only unoccupied Jonghyun-bed smashed between the wall and Onew.

Jonghyun thought he woke in the middle of that night upon hearing someone silently screaming profanities at him through their thoughts, but when he half opened his eyes to see who it was, all he heard was “Oh shit! He’s awake!” and saw a dark and tall shadow disappear under the blankets, only to be rolled over onto and crushed under the snoring Onew.
