I had a CRAZY weekend.
I found a baby owl in my FIREPLACE Saturday night! I was just hanging out watching the Phillies game with my family when I heard a rustling noise coming from the fireplace. I thought right away, oh great, it's a bat. (we had a bat in the house once before). My mom is terrified of bats! She started to freak out...so I covered the fireplace with a big pillow....I was scared to look through the glass, thinking a yucky bat with rabies would be staring back at me, but NO. I took away the pillow once I got brave, and there it was staring back at me ..... a beautiful creature with huge, peaceful green eyes...a little fuzzy baby owl!!!! I felt like the luckiest girl in the world, since this owl had choosen my chimney to come down and visit me. I became immediately concerned for her however, b/c we didn't know how long she had been in there. So I called the police and all the animal shelters, but since it was the weekend all the animal shelters were closed and the police said they didnt have the equipment to deal with the situation. We then got the idea to try the fire department, since they are usually down to help anytime...and they were! The fire cheif and 5 fire fighters came over with two big ladder trucks at 11 at night! It was an amazing 30 minute rescue procedure, but in the end the owl was released back into the sky. I hope she still flys nearby and remembers us! We *almost* wanted to keep her as a pet....but knew that wouldn't be in her best interest. Of course, I got attached to her after 2 minutes and yes.....I miss her.
I updated my Etsy shop with new treats. Please take a look. Here are some new items available now:
