So apparently the celebration of our country's independence occurred on June 29th, not July 4th. At least according to the City of Wixom, that is. Since when do we shoot fireworks off in celebration on June 29th? What ever happened to commemorating Independence Day, July 4th, 1776 on July 4th (?) with a celebration that consisted of a day-long hullabaloo with less than adequate parking, audacious little monsters running a muck with a moon-bounce, and a bunch of old guys singing "I wanna rock and roll all night.... and party everyday," slightly out of key? What happened to the "I have to show up at 10am to get a decent parking place," "I'm so drunk, I can barely walk, and it's only 4pm," and "I have to stand in that line for a half an hour just to pee?" And we can't forget about the hour and a half car ride it takes to get home, only 5 miles away.... a distance which could be walked faster?
Apparently we were misinformed all these years and have missed this year's festivities, so there you have it.
Happy 4th of July 29th of June
