Over the centuries, mankind has tried many ways of combating the forces of evil... prayer, fasting, good works and so on. Up until Doom, no one seemed to have thought about the double-barrel shotgun. Eat leaden death, demon.

Yay! Glad you got back to me...

The entry-level position in the game industry (no technical experience necessary) is "tester." Basically, you play a game from it's most humble beginnings to when it's ready to hit the shelves, looking for bugs or things that crash the game, and documenting those things so that they can be fixed. You basically try to break the game, see if the things you've found wrong with it have been fixed, and then try to break it some more. It can be tedious work. BUT, if you are diligent about the task (a good employee)and passionate about games, you WILL move up and onto bigger and better things. That's how my husband started out, and the same with most of his friends. He has been a Senior Designer and Writer for many years now. His friends became designers, producers, editors--all kinds of stuff. The best part is that he really LOVES his job and works with some really fun people.

So... That's the basic info. I have for you! If you are interested in checking it out more, let me know what city you're in and I might be able to steer you towards some contacts or companies, at least. Some even have flexible work schedules for students (as in evening shifts). In general, though, the hours are 10-7, but there really doesn't seem to be any clock-punching. It typically depends on the needs of the project.

Let me know if this sounds good to you, and maybe we can help you out! I'm sure we could probably answer your questions, too...

BTW... Yeah, I love Zelda. If I were to get a tattoo, it would be the triforce on my hand. Unfortunately, I've had several jobs which have required me to try to "pass for normal," so that might be a little too obvious... Well, I may just have to go for fairy wings on my back or something...

SWEET! Being a game tester sounds awesome and even better you can move up from that position! I kinda did something like that for Organic. I had to test out a website search engine and found any errors in it. I ended up founding errors they didn't even think of and results that didn't make sense. Thank you so much for this information ^_^
I live in New York City, but isn't most of the major video game companies in California?
Even if you can't get the triforce tattoo, there is always pins. Nintendo world sold them and they were cute looking. I have friend that lives in Pittsburgh that does pretty good tattoos
check out her deviantart http://shinigami-sama.deviantart.com/
I cosplay as Link for NY comic con, someone thought I was cosplaying Peter Pan XD
Thank you so much for the information ^_^

Well, I'm a big wimp and a little fickle, so I probably won't ever actually get a tattoo because I have trouble committing to something that will still be on me when I'm 60. *sigh* Yes, I have pins! I have a friend at Nintendo, and he was my supplier, plus I used to go to E3 every year (I just moved out of LA)and get freebies there. What I need is a sticker for my DS, but I think I won't have too much trouble finding one once I actually have time to start looking for it.

Anyway, I'll shoot off an e-mail to my husband and let you know what's in your area. It sounds like you get the gist of the job, and the fact that you have similar experience would set you off ahead. Yeah, the industry prefers to move people up within it rather than getting people from schools, so that's definitely a great starting point. I'll let you know what I find out!

LOL yeah having a tattoo would be like having a long term relationship. Tattoo ages with you and you may not want to look at it anymore ^^
Cool! I always wanted to go E3! Oh what kind of free goodies did you get? If they did make a triforce sticker, I would love to buy that.
Again thank you so much for your time to tell me about the position and I hope to hear from you again soon.
