the haunted swing designates that he's physically near with that someone.
There’s this swing located in the park at the middle of one of the housing in Seoul. The swing is unique, because it has a name. Its name is ‘haunted swing’.
Why is it called the haunted swing, is because it swings by itself. Not the usual slow swinging when the wind is blowing or when the kid finishes playing though, it swings as if it is occupied and played by someone. Or something. They wouldn’t know. Besides, if it’s really because of the wind or the whatnot, it’ll only last for seconds, maybe minutes. But this, last for hours, sometimes one whole day.
The haunted swing comes by pair. The swing located on the right is a pink colored swing and the left is a blue colored swing. The one which swings everyday (except for rainy days) by itself is the pink colored. And another unique thing about this swing, is because the swing is located beside a big tree which covers the swing from sunlight and it’s only this swing which is covered by the tree.
New residents had once made a petition to demolish the park, or at least, destroy the swing. But to no avail, the old residents reject it. Even the security rejects it. Majority of the people reject it.
“It has been swinging for almost thirty years,” says one of the resident who has rejected the petition. “There’s no need to be afraid. Because since the swing had started swinging by itself, this housing is safe as if its guarded by cops. Before, people left this place for the low security system, there’s at least one house which was robbed per day.”
But of course, who wouldn’t want to leave the place when by the time they move there, they could see the swing at the park where the kid usually plays swinging by itself with no one pushing or sitting on it? That’s definitely not the law of gravity.
No one, seriously, no one goes to the park since year three the swing started to swing by itself. New comers go to the park because they simply don’t know, but after they know, one by one started to leave the housing, some stay because they don’t care.
No one goes there, except for one person; Cho Kyuhyun.
He first moved to the place when he was five, and the swing had swung for thirteen years.
Cho Kyuhyun likes the swing, the slide, the see-saw (which surprisingly doesn’t move by itself), he likes everything in the park. And although he plays by himself, he enjoys it. Accompanied or not, it’s just the same for him. Besides, he never feels lonely playing by himself. It seems like he’s accompanied by something (or someone, perhaps?) which he couldn’t see, but he could feel.
Kyuhyun’s parents freak out when they know their only child plays at the park. But as time goes by, they just shrug it off for they don’t see something threatening everytime Kyuhyun goes out to play. Kyuhyun’s happy, by the way. And it’s not like the ghost will eat him, right?
-
“Hello,” Kyuhyun says no one in particular as he takes a seat on the blue swing. The pink swing has been swinging even before he arrives.
No one replies his greeting, of course. But Kyuhyun, as the hard-headed boy he is, still continues to talk to the... he doesn’t know himself. He just talks, and who cares if no one will reply to whatever he’s saying.
After almost about an hour playing with the swing, the see-saw, and the slide, Kyuhyun marches happily to the bench under the tree and sits there while humming some random child songs. The birds were chirping happily and the pink swing stops swinging. It always stops swinging everytime Kyuhyun sings.
Kyuhyun has a feeling that the something or the someone is now sitting next to him on the bench and is now holding Kyuhyun’s left hand which is sprawled on the bench. He knows, because he feels. And he’s not afraid.
It feels so right. The park, the bench, the tree, the swings, the see-saw, the slide, the fountain. All of those things feel so right, and it seems so real.
It seems like Kyuhyun really belongs to this place.
-
Kyuhyun is 14 when he brings his bestfriend to the park with him. His friend’s name is Zhou Mi, a transferred student from China.
Zhou Mi is scared when Kyuhyun tells him that he’ll bring Zhou Mi to the park where he usually plays (he tells the story to Zhou Mi about the history of the haunted swing), but in reality, when they finally arrive, the swing is not swinging by itself.
Kyuhyun takes a seat on his usual place, the blue swing, while Zhou Mi is standing behind him, pushing the swing.
“Mimi!”
They talk, they play, they laugh, they giggle, they do everything that day at the park. Kyuhyun is happy, Zhou Mi is happy. But there’s something which gyve’s Kyuhyun, he doesn’t know what. The pink swing doesn’t swing for the whole day may take place in it, it kinda bother him somehow.
The haunted swing always swings everytime Kyuhyun visits the park. And today, it doesn’t move even an inch.
The next day after Kyuhyun brings Zhou Mi to the park, it swings again. Kyuhyun can’t be more happy than that day.
“Why don’t you play with the pink swing yesterday?” Kyuhyun’s question was answered by the sound of the wind and the ‘creaking’ sound of the rusty iron moving with its own accord which belongs to the pink swing.
“It’s okay. By the way, I learned some new songs at school and I think you would like to hear it.”
Kyuhyun takes a seat on the bench and the swing, as usual, stop swinging and the routine repeats itself.
-
Kyuhyun is 15 when he sees the its part of the body for the first time.
“Guess what,” Kyuhyun says to the (he believes as) someone who is sitting on the bench, since the swing doesn’t swing by itself and Kyuhyun knows that the someone is there waiting for him to come. He learns from the past. “Mom bought me a camera~” Kyuhyun sing-songs happily.
When Kyuhyun sits on the bench, he can’t feel the someone sitting beside him, but he still has the feeling of the someone in the park, just not sitting beside him.
“Where are you? C’mon, I want to take our pictures. Who knows I’ll be able to see you through the camera?” Kyuhyun jokes.
But when Kyuhyun’s pleading and whining can’t persuade the someone to take a picture with him, he surrenders and decides to sing and doesn’t want to take the pictures again.
Kyuhyun is smart, clever and of course, sly. That’s the fault of the someone to believe in what everything Kyuhyun said for when Kyuhyun was sure that the someone was sitting right beside him, he took the camera out and photographed his hand which was sprawled on the bench.
Kyuhyun doesn’t feel the slightest feeling of surprise when he sees the photo and there’s someone’s hand atop of his sprawled hand. The hand is white and beautiful, probably the most beautiful that Kyuhyun has ever seen. And he doesn’t know why, but the simple ring on the someone’s annulary attracts him the most.
-
Kyuhyun is 17 when the swing has decided to stop swinging.
“I got myself a boyfriend..” Kyuhyun smiles sheepishly.
“I think I won’t visit the park frequently. I’ll miss you. We will still be friends, right?”
Silence.
Kyuhyun scratches the back of his neck nervously. “I think I should go now. Ryeowook is waiting for me,” Kyuhyun waves silently to the swing which is now swinging slowly. “Bye.”
And Kyuhyun doesn’t know that when he turns to back the swing, it has stopped swinging and Kyuhyun misses the feeling of someone’s hand holding the hem of his shirt firmly, preventing him to go.
-
Kyuhyun is 27 when he finally comes back to visit the swing.
Kyuhyun notices the difference of the park (and swing) when he comes to visit. The park is now full with kids and their parents, playing together with the swing, the see-saw, and everything. The park is renovated and the bench isn’t located in the place Kyuhyun remembers where it should be.
The park seems like it’s maintained, it’s clean. Before, the trash can wasn’t even provided.
Kyuhyun sits on the empty bench, he stares straight ahead to the pink swing which is now occupied by a girl with two cute ponytails.
“I’m getting married,” Kyuhyun smiles reluctantly. “And I’m going to move. But I think I will give you something before I left, since you had been so kind to me.”
Kyuhyun walks to the pink swing and smiles to the cute girl sitting on it, as if on cue, the girl moves herself away from the swing and runs to hug her mom.
He takes a laminated picture from his pocket and takes a last glance on it before he bends down on the pink swing and tapes the picture under the its seat. He did all of that while singing a song, which he himself just realized when he got home that the song he was singing is a sad love song.
The laminated picture he taped under the swing’s seat is the picture of their hands that time when he brought his newly bought camera.
-
Kyuhyun is 67 when he asks his husband to bring him to the old swing.
“Hi,” Kyuhyun greets the empty swing, his voice quivered a bit of his old age. “It’s been a long time,” he continues. “Right?”
Kyuhyun moves his wheelchair to the silent pink swing. He moves it by himself and not by the help of his husband since Kyuhyun told him not to.
“You know, old people,” Kyuhyun chuckles and ends up in a coughing fit.
“Well... people get old, right? So do I,” Kyuhyun takes a deep breath before he continues. “I think this will be our last meeting. I hope.. you can take care of yourself.”
Kyuhyun fumbles blindly under the swing’s seat, and smiles warmly when he feels the texture of a laminated plastic brushing against his wizened fingers.
And then he feels it; the feeling of something warm around his body and something wet on his shoulder.
Kyuhyun smiles for the last time before his vision turns black.
-
Kyuhyun is dead when he finally meets the someone physically.
Kyuhyun doesn’t know what brings him here once again, the old park where he meets the strange someone, where he experiences something that he never imagined.
He touches himself; his face, his hands, his body, everything. He has no wrinkles anymore in every part of his body. His breathing is stable. His hands doesn’t shake. He’s back to the 23 year old Kyuhyun.
What?
And it hits him. He knows why is he here, he knows why, he knows everything.
Kyuhyun walks slowly to the pink swing and fumbles under its sit and then frowns when he can’t feel anything under it, only the feeling of cold, rusty iron.
Then he turns to the big tree as he spots something on the trunk. A craving. He touches the cravings etched into it because he can’t read the words. The writing is too small.
Kyuhyun
and
Sungmin
13/7/1953
He carved it. It’s their wedding day.
“Kyuhyun..”
Kyuhyun hears his name being called and he turns to the source of the voice. He’s met by the sight of a smiling someone.
Someone who made him like this. Someone whom he missed the most. Someone he loved.
“Sungmin.”
Kyuhyun pulls the smaller boy to him and strokes his hair lovingly before he kisses his lips.
“I missed you,” Kyuhyun says in between the kiss.
“I know,” comes as the reply.

AWMYGAWSH. ANOTHER KYUMIN FIC FROM ME XDDD at first i thought this fic will be the same like my other unfinished kyumin fics... but ha! this fic is finished.
i don't really like the ending .____________. but can't think of other... so i'll let it be :3
and i really don't care if the word 'the someone' doesn't make any sense. and if the main idea of this fic isn't related to the title. it's intended.
by the way, in case you're wondering why this fic is.... like this, kyuhyun experiences something that is called reincarnation. before he reincarnates, he's sungmin's husband. when he reincarnates as a human, he doesn't remember a thing about sungmin. after he dies for the second time, he meets sungmin again.
duh. i seriously need a beta for my fics ;__________________;
