Get ready! It's that time of year again. The mods of
shineebigbangLJ/
shineebigbangAO3 present SHINee Big Bang 2017!
The main objective of this contest is to challenge writers to produce a fic with a minimum length of 10,000 words. The fics will be posted in August this year.
Please note all comments are screened, meaning only mods will be able to see them (so don't worry about your email address!).
Rules
1. Stories must have a minimum length of 10,000 words. There is no maximum length.
2. Pairings for stories must revolve primarily around SHINee members (e.g. Onew x Jonghyun), meaning that you cannot have a crossover pair (e.g. Onew x Jaejoong) as the main pairing in your work. Stories may be gen, though, meaning it may not have pairings involved.
3. All entries will be sent to the
shineebigbang mods' email address, replaymod@gmail.com.
4. After the deadline, a voting post will be put up for people to cast their votes to determine the winners of the contest. Fics will be posted anonymously. As such, crossposting fics for this challenge is strictly prohibited.
5. AUs are allowed.
6. Stories, as much as possible, must be beta'd.
Deadlines and Other Details
Sign ups will be open until Thursday, June 15th 2017.
The first draft (minimum of 10,000 words) must be completed and turned in (with a summary and working title, may or may not be beta'd yet) by July 15th, 2017. Your final draft must be turned in by August 19th 2017. It is ideal that your fic has already been proofread by your beta by the time you submit it, but if you're pretty confident that you can proofread your own work, then it's okay to not have a beta.
Important Dates:
Sign up period: June 1st - June 15th
First draft (at least 10000 words): July 15th
Final version: August 19th

ANNOUNCEMENT: SBB is moving to
ArchiveOfOurOwn!
Due to recent changes within Livejournal (
read more here), as well as the fandom drifting away from Livejournal as a main writing platform over the past few years, the mods have decided to move SBB to AO3 starting this year. The process will remain the same - writers will submit their story to the mods' e-mail and the mods will post each story anonymously on both accounts.
What does this mean for authors?
AO3 is a more writer-friendly platform that doesn’t instill a character limit, which will lessen the stress of perfecting HTML coding and prevent stories from being broken up into segments. We hope this will make things easier on the authors as there will be less meticulous formatting required and this new expansion will hopefully open up the event to a broader audience, garnering more exposure for the authors.
Since the SBB Livejournal is a long-running community within the fandom, the original page will continue to be used as well. While the stories will be hosted on AO3, the mods will continue to post links to the SBB community for each entry. We know that many people enjoy using the SBB LJ and our hope is that continuing our posting efforts there will give each story the widest platform possible, and retain the SBB stories in a singular location for archiving purposes.
Pimp this out!
