Found this on the L4D2 boards.
Ok, to get things in a light mood while I recover from surgery I started to wonder. What of Rochelle did really suck down an ENTIRE bottle of pain pills like she does in Left 4 Dead 2?
First we are going to assume that because these are found just about anywhere, and because of the container they are in, these are Acetaminophen based pain medicine. Ibuprofen or such would exaggerate bleeding so it is unlikely it could be these.
Let me go at this in steps.
I am not a doctor, but using the internet as a basis for information, I will be playing one today. If I am incorrect about any of the results, please look on the internet, as I have already looked up this information EXTENSIVELY (I spent almost an hour cause I was bored and stuck in bed). If you wish to dispute the effects of this medicine, feel free to cause an extreme overdose until death to prove me wrong, then contact me after and explain where I was wrong and I will gladly admit you are correct on this proof.
First we must understand that we have no idea of Rochelle is taking these pills orally or anally. Because anal reception of the medicine is faster acting, we will assume she is taking these pills anally for the time being, all 48 tablets.
The reaction would be quite fast and pain would instantly be stopped, but followed by immediate rejection and cramping of the rectal area. Rochelle would become confused and disoriented within ten minutes. Nausea would most likely begin as she ran through the halls with her "partners" shortly after. After over 8000 milligrams had been absorbed via rectal tissue, diarrhea would soon result, expelling the pills immediately. It is questionable how many half dissolved pills would remain and if Coach would still be desperate enough to give them a whirl.
At around this period Rochelle would begin shaking violently and vomiting would begin as well as continued dehydration through excruciating VOLCANIC diarrhea. As dehydration quickly set in within the first 10 minutes, muscle movements would become extremely difficult.
As Rochelle's liver shut down, soon to be followed by other organs, she would be convulsing in seizures as expulsion of any remaining fluids continued. Assuming that Rochelle was actually pregnant an this time she would have had a violent VOLCANIC miscarriage at this time as well. Due to the large dose in her system her body would most likely be reacting to the medication as invasion and she would begin swelling up like a balloon with difficulty breathing as she became a disgusting mass of vomit and fecal matter having seizures on the ground.
Because Rochelle did not wash her hands after rectal use of the Acetaminophen pills, she also would have been spreading streptococcal bacteria which will most likely make many of the team mates extremely sick. They will understand later that ditching her was a welcome plus to their health in the long run despite the nighttime comfort perks.
End result is that Rochelle dies an absolutely awful death of either organ failure or asphyxiation due to an extreme reaction in her body due to the overdose of taking the entire case of the pills.
Lesson learned here: DO NOT TAKE AN ENTIRE CASE OF PILLS EVER!
