i'm here at truman state. which makes sense if you think about it, because truman is a state.
the past few days have been pretty rad. south dakota is awesome. well, the state itself sucks, but the kids there are amazing. aberdeen was a damn good time. rob and landon (you don't know them) took me frisbee golfing, which was super amounts of fun. i didn't do too bad either, considering it was my first time.
the next day i ended up in pierre, sd. now, it's pronounced peer (or pier) instead of pierre (french) which i still don't understand. i actually spent 3 days there, all of which were a blast. as soon as i got into town i was shipped off to some powderpuff football practice (wtf?). we headed over to taman's and and we all went to get coffee. after that, i was taken to see what might possibly be the coolest thing i've ever seen...a flaming fountain. i know that no one will believe, so i took pictures of it. i'll post them some where soon. i also saw a statue of two horses making out, both with huge nuts. it was creepy, really. i ended up staying with robin's family (again, you don't know them) and the next day i woke up and baked some muffins (in a flowered apron) and then went in the town to find there wasn't shit to do. hooray! i thought about going to a movie, but the theater only played matinees on the weekends. yes! i got some decent ice cream and headed to the show and played. it was a good time and i made some awesome new friends in the band asking abby. after the show we all hung out and bullshitted it up for the better part of the night, as they stayed at the same place i did. the next morning we all woke up to a huge ass breakfast made by robin and her mom (i think). i had the day off, so i stuck around in south dakota for yet another day and we went to visit this old man named ed. he was in a hospital, because he didn't want to go into a nursing home. he has no family, so the lois family goes to see him. we sat around as he talked about old time square dances and fiddles. i later learned that he never got to marry to the love of his life, dorothy. they (the lois') found her in minnesota and they're trying to get her there to see ed. and they still write each other letters. that's sweet. later on, we went to see school of rock. god damn, that movie was funny. i think i may go see it again tonight. either that or the rundown. anyway, later that night i saw all the sights of pierre and went to the middle of north america. it was just a pole in a slab of concrete, what a letdown.
then yesterday i drove 8 hours to des moines, ia for a show with tora! tora! torrence! after the show, i saw the scariest thing...ever. as i walked by a window, i saw what appeared to be a dead guy in a chair. he was old, thin and had a towel on his head, not wrapped, but laying over it. his fingers were interlocked. it was creepy and i kept walking. but, i had to go back and look again. when i did, his eyes were open, with no whites. all black. he stared at me as i walked by, but his head never moved. god damn it was scary. i did not like that at all. needless to say, i quickly got the hell out of des moines.
which puts me here, at truman state in kirksville, mo. i play here tomorrow at the aquadome, so it should be an awesome time. i'll keep you posted on that. talk to you soon.
