1. What did you do in 2009 that you'd never done before?
Graduated from college? I also learned to swim.
2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I kept them all to varying extents. I'll talk about these in another entry.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
I think I have another cousin or two.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
Yes, several people.
5. What countries did you visit?
Canada.
6. What would you like to have in 2010 that you lacked in 2009?
A stronger sense of purpose.
7. What date from 2009 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
I don't really remember dates, but I do remember events. I suppose I'll always remember graduating because it was SO GOOD to get everything over and done with. I'll also remember my last few days working at BOCES and a couple presentations I did.
... yes, my life was very academically-oriented for most of the year.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
I actually had quite a few, but nowhere near as many as I wanted. Learning to accept that I can't always be productive and accomplish ten billion things in a short amount of time is an achievement in itself. The fact that I've mostly stopped beating myself up over it is an even greater one.
9. What was your biggest failure?
I ruined or otherwise failed to maintain a lot of relationships this year. I needlessly sacrificed my peace-keeping strategy on the altar of "growing a spine" which was actually "becoming even more of a douchebag." I no longer allow people to take advantage of my emotions, but I've become a lot more cynical and judgmental than I ever wanted to be, so I'm working to find a balance.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Besides the tailbone thing? Not really.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
A NEW COMPUTER. Hopefully. It's at my house but I won't be there until the 8th.
12. Where did most of your money go?
Tuition.
13. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
My birthday, oddly enough.
14. What song will always remind you of 2009?
This one DAMN YOU PHAE.
15. Compared to this time last year, are you:
Better off? Yes.
16. What do you wish you'd done more of?
I WiSH I'D GONE OUT MORE but I just couldn't be bothered.
17. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Complaining rather than, you know, working towards fixing the problem.
18. How did you spend Christmas?
Eating chocolate and watching G Gundam with Taka.
19. Did you fall in love in 2009?
This is a stupid question.
20. How many one-night stands?
None.
21. What was your favorite TV program?
I ONLY WATCH LAW AND ORDER ON TELEVISION. Otherwise, I consider 99% of it to be trash.
22. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Not hate exactly, but I have a pretty extreme dislike for quite a few people now.
23. What was the best book you read?
I'd have to think about this for a while. I did quite a bit of reading this year, but most of it comprised of journal articles and technical shit.
24. What was your greatest musical discovery?
NONE WHATSOEVER and this saddens me. 2009 was a musical wasteland.
25. What did you want and get?
I wanted
these boots and got them, I guess.
26. What did you want and not get?
A million dollars.
27. What was your favorite film of this year?
I don't. Watch movies, really.
28. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I turned 23 this year. I went out with my boyfriend and a bunch of our friends to a nice Italian restaurant and did shots of tequila for the rest of the night. It was fun, though the morning after definitely was not.
29. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
If Jason had gotten cockpunched by karma. I'm not going to rehash this one.
30. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2009?
I actually decided to wear real clothes this year, so I'm still figuring this out. I really need to move away from the safety of black, though.
31. What kept you sane?
For some parts of the year? Alcohol. For other parts?
jaringdale and
avaunt .
... you get nothing more sappy than this, okay.
32. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Ugh, get the hell out of here with this shit.
33. What political issues stirred you the most?
The sheer amount of idiocy surrounding everything related to the American political system. I'm disappointed in our politicians as a whole and I'm even more disappointed in large segments of the American public for their persistent denial of reality and sense.
34. Who did you miss?
My sense of humor. Seriously, I really tried to lighten up for people, especially you guys, but for most of 2009? I just wanted to go around punching people with chairs.
35. Who was the best new person you met?
Wow how about I skip this one.

I've been healthier than usual this year, so no.
43. Did you have any encounters with the police?
Besides mall cops? No.
44. Would you relive 2009 over and over again?
Ugh, no.
45. What did you purchase that was over $1000?
Nothing.
46. Did you know anybody who got married?
Some family members?
47. Has anyone betrayed you in 2009?
Doubt it, but probably.
48. Where do you live now?
My parents' house.
49. What's something you thought you'd never do but did in 2009?
... Learn to swim?
50. What has been your favorite moment?
I can't think of one.
51. What's something you learned about yourself?
I can waste epic amounts of time on LJ.
52. Were you in a relationship this year?
Yep!
53. What music will you remember 2009 by?
Terrible K-pop that
vore linked me to, commercialized 60's/70's revival "iPod ad" music, and Lady Gaga. All of which I'll hate forever and ever.
54. Would you say you've changed since the beginning of this year?
I'm calmer now.
55. Do you think 2010 will be better or worse?
Definitely better. I won't allow it to be any other way.
