The first one that comes to mind is "Ba(a)Ba(a)." This is an interesting set of syllables. People have been calling me this since I was VERY young and I'm told it comes from whatever dialect my family spoke... way back. Essentially means "wise one." There's a bit of an occultish connotation with this that no one can explain.
In Japanese, this can be an affectionate/childish (or derogatory, depending on who's using it or how it's said) way of saying "grandmother." Japanese society places a lot of emphasis on ancestor-worship and reverence and grandmothers are always considered wise. The etymology originates... somewhere, but I can't for the life of me remember right now.

I don't know if they were thinking of this (and I'm certainly not "old" enough to be considered a Crone...) but my family (the branch that gave me this nickname, anyway) tends to view me as alternately very wordly and close to the Earth, so to speak, but also very frightening.
