This story is unlike any other stories you've read. At first it will seem that it's dark, and horrifying, but I shall tell you otherwise. In a small subdivision where children played freely, and the neighbors were kind, there was a house completely solidary. You can easily spot it because it had this aura.
You simply shiver as you turn your back to it, and when you look back, you feel as though someone is watching you. Stories and gossips, theories and guesses went around this small subdivision. It was until someone, a child, dared to enter the house.
The little one said it was the most... lonely thing he ever saw. It was just curled up into a ball, in the deepest, darkest corner where it cried and rocked itself. The child walked closer. Let's go with the saying, Curiosity killed the cat. But we're going to partially apply it to this story. Out of pure, innocent curiosity, the naive child walked closer and closer to the figure, until he was just an arm away. Slowly, the child reached for the other one in the dark. Slowly, he tilted his head in confusion.
The figure noticed that he was not the only one alone anymore. He looked up and saw that it was another boy. This outsider was reaching out a hand, and his head was tilted. When the boy uncurled himself and slowly reached for the other's hand as well-- gently, the older boy smiled. Happy that the other was reaching for his hand. The boy was slightly chubby, but it made him look strong. On the other hand, he was skinny, and weak. Questions scrambled inside his head. Why was this boy here? Who is this boy? Can I play with you?
As the boy in the dark corner touched his hand, it mingled. It burnt. It felt amazing. He helped him stand up, and squeezed his hand. Silently, with this action, he said, "I won't let go..."
For some weeks, the boy would sneak from his house to visit the other boy. He had been told that it was haunted, that there was no one who lived there anymore. But he knew otherwise. Tried as he might explaining that what he was saying was true, soon, his parents forbade him to get any closer to the house. And soon, the more frequently he sneaked out.
There was no excuse to what he was doing. He would just say that it was important, that he was just going to play. More questions, then more restrictions, and came more sneaking. In time, he perfected timing, sneaking, lying. And everyday, he would go visit the boy in the deepest, darkest corner.
After a few months, he was caught. His friend (whom he had trusted so dearly not to tell anyone) grew scared, and told his mother. When his friend's mother was looking outside, keeping watch at her son, she saw that the little boy had snuck behind the back door of the house. She called his mother, and his parents rushed. He was shocked, and surprised. But most of all, he was worried. He had promised the boy in the corner a game.
A happy game where he could play with all the other children. He had promised that this was the day he was going to leave the house. His mother pulled him away, just before he had a change to hold the knob.
The next day, they left. They moved to an entirely new city, a new life, new friends, new environment. He was five that time, and the boy in the corner was four. And during those years, his parents and relatives brainwashed him. The neighbors say it was merely a ghost. The children say it was a monster. His parents said it was just his imagination.
...but what do you say?
...a boy.
NOTES: Freakier than intended. o.o Chapter 1 should be up by next week. ^^;
