I just had to go Akibahara(two days, first one is a look see). I mean seven years on, my doll population have stabilized. What could go wrong?
Gotta say the place looks kinda different. There are gashaphon machines in the train station lobby. I'm not even out of the station and you want me to gasha stuff already. You know you're in Japan when the billboards contain anime or games. And one Gundam X Sake(taste like sake) promotion near the station exit. On account of said heatwave I didn't explore Akiba from end to end for gashaphon-rement hunt. Only the main stores that I came for.
Just seeing Azone label store made me feel like a kid in a toy store... okay I am in a toy store. Granted I use
Junkyspot,
Hobbysearch and Taobao. Just heading to a store that physically sells half the amount of dolls (full or hybrid) I own is exhilarating, it kinda made months of not visiting my local action figures stores feel like some kind of abstinence.
My Chunnibyoness was on overload, working an internal dialog with dolls in which it sounds a whole lot like
"BUY ME! BUY ME!"(I did came by to get doll body parts). I am kinda impress that I could still 'hear' them calling me to come back downstairs while I was at Volks (What? You know I prefer Azone on account of their close association with Obitsu). For all the stuff that could fit my dolls on both scale, I'm surprise I could still stay within budget even though I was distracted from buying an Obi50 there and then(whoops).
As for Volks, I went there with the intention to see what "Sculpt who shall no be named yet" looks likes in person. Note if you own Volks line dolls, they have diorama area to shoot your Dollfies. My lone 1/6 playline Dollfie didn't come with me, one day I'll bring him to Tokyo.
Oh and I'll get to Nakano Parabox later
Radio Kaikan building. 3 floors of dolls!
Uchusen宇宙船 - Contains some
Noix De Rome, Obitsu and Pullips
Azone label shop - Contains Azone, Obitsu, Visual doll, some stuff from
Dollce, Momoko and Pullips. There be diorama sets and some furniture too.
Volks - Their Super Dollfies and Dollfie Dream stuff are all here.
Don't let the poster mislead you, Hobby Tengaku is non doll stuff.
Another place of note if your dolls fit Azone stuff(3 scales) is
Little World.
Unable to confirm Totoco and Dollce. Scroll down this post for Dolks.
And then there is
Mandarake. Whichever branch that you are heading to. It would do you some good to have a picture list with the title of the items as well as the code and which branch its located in. Let say you're at Akiba looking for an Akiba based outfit. It might help to check with the staff there, most of their stuff in boxes and shelves and that it might take a bit of time to rummage. Same thing if you're going to Dollyteria. It really helps to have a list.
Still on the Akiba note.
Dolks Tokyo is a little ways off
Mostly stuff for bjd.
- Head towards Akihabara Washingon Hotel
- Cross the river at the back of said hotel (you should see a shrine)
- Go to the front of Yanagimori shrine
- Cross the zebra crossing and straight into the street (don't turn, keep the shrine to your back)
-Head down said street with the shrine at your back.
Somewhere in the middle of said street.
And then I wander off to Kanda shrine and technically got lost on the way back and somehow ended up at Ochanomizu station after asking for directions.
While we're still on the topic of dolls, there was
Parabox. a store in Nakano where
four of the dolls following me technically came from. It definitely gives me a good idea what 1/3 Gretel looks like and whether or not I would succumb and upsize the 1/6 one that I own.
