The ironic thing was the narrator guy stated the battle would be one that you wouldn't want to miss. The Fine Living Network has the original Iron Chef show on at 1am and I've been recording it. I was watching one and suddenly it changed to something called Great American Country... the GAC violated Iron Chef. Bastards. Iron Chef vs Great American Country... Iron Chef wins. They have shiny pointy knives... and the chairman. XD Pretty much my reaction was. " *stare* ... What is this crap?! Where's my Iron Chef?! RAWR! I demand a sacrifice! *waves remote at the tv*" Yeah. >>;; Many goldfish crackers lost their little salty tasty lives as a result. XD
Anyway. To the update. I managed to make 11 pottery items in 4 hours. @.@ I create at least 7 little cups within an hour or so. I just went through the regular motions and suddenly I had seven items to deal with. XD I trimmed them yesterday. I glaze stuff on Monday, but I still have half a block of clay left, so I'm going to make and trim more stuff next Friday and Saturday. I'd normally deal with evenings, but I'll have rehersal all of next week... Well... I guess it's this week now. o.O Wow. Time flies. However, if I need more time at the studio they have a clock in and clock out system. You pay 5 bucks per hour, which is actually not that bad considering I can make a lot of stuff in 4. I'm also gonna make a new big bowl for my mom. One of her favorites cracked, so she can't use it anymore and she wants a new one. Because my mother is wonderful and bought clothing for me in both Seattle and Kansas City I believe I owe her.
My other projects haven't really gone anyway. I'm making two portfolios now. One that's strictly for my photography. That way I can have people order stuff instead of making a crap ton of prints. The other will feature the work I am capable of. The bulk of the miscellaneous work will be done in August. I have to finish at least one set of Fruits Basket figurines so I can put photos of them in the first portfolio. Let's see... List... Fruits basket figurines, Ayame snake plushie, Shikigami plushie, and Shikigami figurine. That's pretty much the fanart stuff I want to make to display in the portfolio or at the table. Other than that it's pottery and scarves. I have about 50 scarves to color, but I can spend a few days devoted to just that and be finished. Not all of them will be complicated. I'm also going to make a few random figurines. Cats, foxes, squirrels, and whatever else I feel like making. I have a crap ton of paint I wanna use. >>;;
I can get a lot done once I have nothing else to deal with. The musical and my online courses will be completely done by the 26th, so I can devote the rest of my time to my art and preparations. I've given up on making my artist avatar costume. I'm just gonna throw something together. Though I have these cool printer iron on things for shirts, so I might design a shirt.... I'm thinking of using my favorite line I've ever come up with: "Please ignore the giant mutant kumquats attacking the city." and actually designing a kumquat image to put on it. XD
I'm thinking that I'll just doodle at the table. Practice drawing. I'm gonna get some fresh sketchbooks specifically for the con. Oh yeah. Cameras are a must. XD I might get a memory card for my mom's camera and take it with me... If she'll let me. >>;;
I'm going to design my own business cards as well as the sign for my table. My half at least. ^^;; I've also registered a new email account at hotmail. foxfire_art@hotmail.com will be my official email for all my art dealings. I will eventually create a website, but that's far in the future. The better I get at what I do the more I can do. I'm hoping to eventually design my own cross-stitch stuff, too. I've been bitten by the art bug... it just doesn't include much drawing beyond design sketches. XD
20/20 had an excellent report about sex. I adore John Stossel. ^^ <3 America's War on Sex by Marty Klein, The Manual by Steve Santagati, and The Myth of Monogamy by David P. Barash are a few books that were featured and I plan to look into them. I find the phenomenon of censorship intriguing. Especially because the excuse is "we must protect the children from such things." They'll get curious about sex on their own! If we educate them about it instead of sheltering them then we might not have so many kids who are stupid when it comes to sex. Let's see.... I had sex ed in elementary school. I got really curious about it in middle school. I probably looked at my first porn site in like... 8th grade maybe... It was a hentai site of sorts. XD Not the best representation of sex, but I eventually found a website with dirty stories and porn clips. It's true. I do have a dirty mind. I even get antsy every now and then. I have an idea what my fetishes are and what flicks the light on in that part of my mind. I've actually read several hentai mangas on the internet and there are a few who have decent storylines. There's just a lot of sex. XD Hell I even have an erotic literature site bookmarked. Some of the things are just straight up smut, but there's also some pretty damn good writing on it. I'm human. I'm female. I have urges. I do have standards though. I get bored if it seems too fake. Yes. I have gotten bored. It's kinda sad. --;;
If you're shocked then you haven't been around me when I get on a roll with dirty jokes. I enjoy the subtle ones. =D
I do believe I get a high off of the rush that the combination of stress and excitement created by con preparation. Thus the reason why the subject of sex and porn suddenly bounced into my entry. XD I'm just so overly excited about it. I've been wanting to become an integral part of a con for a really long time. I've wanted to go beyond just being an attendee and I'm doing it! ^^ <3 Sure I might not be doing it because of a webcomic, but being able to sell my art is enough for me. Someday my webcomic will launch. Someday... >>;;; I just gotta keep stuff straight and throw it out there sometime. Keep practicing. *strikes a pose that looks a lot like the Captain Morgan pose* ... >>;;; I do like rum.... I just haven't had any lately. There is a lovely bottle of sake in the fridge though. XD
I will admit to being a bit of a lazy bum this summer. I haven't done as much sorting and room cleaning as I promised, but I've kept busy. I can't wait for this week to be over though. I love the musical. I really do, but my heart isn't entirely into it this year. I didn't get to paint at all (which is one of the reasons I participate in the musical), I'm distracted by my courses and projects, and I'm not a big fan of Carousel. The music is great and all, but it's one of the stranger (in my opinion) musicals that Rogers & Hammerstein did. I don't much care for the ending and some things just don't seem right. Oklahoma made more sense. --;; Plus... There's a lot of things that we can't do because we don't have enough young people. I also feel greatly outnumbered... Charlotte's the only one who is close to me in age. I miss the days when I'd be able to work with at least some people my own age. *shrug* I love working with everyone, but I actually want to socialize with people my own age (weird, no? I've never really cared before). The musical feels really.... fractured this year... We're kind of in a casting slump. We need some new blood. I mean the people that are cast in roles are wonderful and talented, but... I kind of want to see some fresh faces. Kevin has played the male lead for the past four musicals. He's excellent, but... *sigh* yeah... I want to see someone new. --;;; *shrug* I look back at the musicals when it started out and we had a lot of people! So many of all ages. Now people have grown up and decided that it's too much work, they don't have time, or they don't even live here anymore. I will still continue. I enjoy the musical too much to ever drop it. Regardless of how crazy it makes things. XD I've made a commitment.
I will post performance dates later along with ticket info. Most of the time you should be able to walk in and get a ticket before the show, but it never hurts to think ahead. I'm not going to bother with a facebook event though. No one who didn't know already because of church or family really came. *shrug*
'Kay it's 2am. I need to go to sleep. I have rehearsal from noon to 6pm. I'm also staying a bit later to help put up the set. ... I almost wrote "set up the set". --;; I'm such a language genius after midnight.
