So in Chinese class many of the lessons have dealt with the internal struggle a Chinese-American faces. For example, where is my hometown? Or my parent's old culture and the new American one.
I decided...duh I'm a Chinese-American. I love China and I love America. I'm a perfect hybrid of both.
But wait a minute....
After little Christine Elise Mitchell posted this website:
http://stuffwhitepeoplelike.wordpress.com/ I read the whole thing and realized that I like pretty much everything on that list! I even wrote down everything that I LOVE and it's over half that list.
So now...I'm white?
Here are some things from that list that I love:
1. Mos Def
2. Prius
3. Sarah Silverman
4. Kitchen Gadgets
5. Living by the Water
6. Architecture
7. Sushi
8. Apple Products
9. David Sedaris
10. Yoga
11. Farmer's Markets
12. Irony
13. Breakfast Places
14. Making you feel bad about not going outside
15. Art degrees
I was introduced to Mos Def by a white friend and let me tell you, that is some good hip hop and rap. I really want a prius. Have you ever seen "Jesus is Magic?" GOLDEN. Forget the picket fence, I believe that the kitchen aid mixer is the american dream. I am never going to accept it if it is given to me as a gift, even for my wedding, because I need to earn that baby on my own. I grew up in La Jolla and my current view from my room is Lake Washington. I love architecture. I ate sushi 2 to 3 times a day 4 to 5 days a week this summer. I own a mac. I think David Sedaris is super funny. We all know how much I love yoga. Farmer's markets? I grew up in La jolla. DUH. That's punny. I like everything from the Cottage to Dennys to the McDonalds drive thru before a long car ride. I make myself feel bad about going outside!!! LIKE TODAY! First sunny day in like two months and i felt so guilty for taking a nap. And Art degrees....man i'm white.
