yoshiko-mama@ljHanzawa: I met Hirano-kun for the first time yesterday at Johnny’s 2020 World.
Hirano: Yes. As for Yasui-kun, we were together in “Another”. I was in a magazine article together with Jesse-kun, though.
Hanzawa: What was your first impression of me? Ah, aside from “His nose is big”.
Jesse: (to Hanzawa who is touching his nose) Don’t touch your nose (laughs).
Hirano: Ah~, excuse me, but be quiet (laughs). But from the start you have been friendly to me, and the atmosphere is cheerful, so I’m happy!
Hanzawa: I’ve always seen Hirano-kun on TV, but he’s really an airhead, isn’t he?
Yasui: Awhile ago, when we were filming at the park, he brought out a scissor at rock paper janken (T/N: It’s like rock-paper-scissors but without the scissors)
Jesse: And today, I got surprised when he called his manager’s name to talk to him, but he forgot what he was going to say and said, “Ah, nevermind.” (laughs). There’s also times when he suddenly says, “What day is it today, me?”.
Yasui: Isn’t “What day is it, me?” a famous saying? I heard from Kotaki (Nozomu) that “Hirano is dangerous!”, but it’s beyond my imagination (laughs).
Hirano: When I saw Yasui-kun for the first time, I thought he looked scary, but actually he was kind.
Hanzawa: Yasui-kun is the oldest among us, but he’s unexpectedly innocent, right? I can’t forget how excited he was last year, when we went to Hawaii for a magazine article.
Jesse: That’s true. He jumped around his bed, and was the most childish.
Yasui: But Han-chan too, from the moment when we arrived, he was making a big fuss, saying “I want to swim in the sea”, right?
Jesse: In the end, he went swimming on his own.
Hanzawa: Everyone went shopping so I dived in and looked at the fishes by myself (laughs).
Jesse: Ahaha! Also, it’s good that Yasui-kun is good at speaking. I’m bad at speaking, so I’m envious.
Hanzawa: Certainly, he’s good at turning the story around.
Yasui: Speaking of which, awhile back, there was a press conferences for “Gamushara J’s Party!!”, right? That time, even though everyone was asking “What will we say?” and gathering around, Han-chan was in high spirits, saying “I’ll leave a mark for sure!”
Jesse: Right, right! But when a reporter asked him, “Who is your admired senpai?”, he was clearly super nervous while answering (laughs)
Hanzawa: Because it felt like it totally came out of nowhere. I wasn’t expecting that question at all!
Yasui • Jesse: Then what did you want them to ask?
Hanzawa: Uwah~, here it is, this feeling. … I got it, I’m sorry (laughs).
Yasui: Jesse is the type that doesn’t get nervous at all, isn’t he? Even if he says stuff like “What do I do?” before performing, once it starts, he does it magnificently.
Jesse: I get nervous, but you just can’t see it.
Yasui: Also, as for me, I’m envious of Jesse’s height (laughs).
Hanzawa: Huh? What about my height?
Yasui: Han-chan looks like the manga “Shingeki no Kyojin”. It’s an eccentric kind.
Hanzawa: I get told that a lot~ (laughs) Sakuma (Daisuke)-kun also told me.
Hirano: Um, I want to ask everyone. When I sing, no matter what I do, I end up looking like a kid, but what do I do to bring out a mature charm like all of you?
Yasui: But I’ve never thought that Hirano-kun looks like a child.
Hirano: Really? I often get encouraged like this here in Tokyo. (laughs)
Yasui: Because I heard that the actors of “Shark” are praising Hirano-kun. “He’s an airhead, but when he sings, it’s like a different person.”
Jesse: It’s seems they dreamt of that! (laughs)
Hirano: (for some reason, he suddenly gets very excited) Speaking of which, you know, yesterday! I had a dream that Santa sent me some luggage!
The three: ……. (don’t get the meaning and are speechless)
Yasui: Could it be…. it was a shared dream? My nice story didn’t make much of an impression, did it?
Hirano: Sorry! Ah, but the fans also tell me I look mature, so I’m grateful.
Yasui: Hey, in Kansai, who always controls Hirano when he’s like this?
Hirano: They just let me be.
Hanzawa: I see, because there’s no end to it…
Yasui: Let’s do that from now on too (laughs). Then, if the four of us were to go somewhere, where would it be?
Jesse: Overseas would be nice.
Hanzawa: The organizer will be Yasui-kun.
Hirano: The destination will be… Iceland!
The three: … uh, where? (laugh)
Hirano: It’s on the left side of Great Britain.
Hanzawa: On the left side he says (laughs). What’s in Iceland?
Hirano: Japan’s biggest hot spring is there! (T/N: A quick Google search reveals that the world’s largest hot spring is in fact in New Zealand. Don’t know where Hirano-kun got his info. LOL. But Iceland does have the highest flow rate hot spring in all of Europe.)
Hanzawa: …… Did you mean to say “world’s biggest”?
Hirano: That’s right! When you scoop out the ground, mud comes out, you smear that on your skin.
Hanzawa: Like a mud pack. Nice.
Hirano: But when everyone went to Hawaii last year, I had a stageplay and I couldn’t go. That’s why I also want to go to Hawaii together with you.
Yasui: Then, it would be nice if we could go on a Hawaii to Iceland course someday! By the way, right now everyone is appearing in “Johnny’s 2020 World”, but how is it? Because I don’t appear in it, but I properly went to watch (laughs).
Hirano: I’m about at my wit’s end. I was suddenly made to appear, so I haven’t memorized the choreography.
Jesse: Ah, you had work in Osaka, thought you’d go home to Nagoya by bullet train, overslept and ended up coming to Yokohama, right? And then Johnny-san told you, “Since you’ve come all the way here, you should appear.”, right?
Hirano: That’s right. Jesse-kun taught me all the choreography, I’m grateful.
Jesse: Because we appear at the same time. But at the start, I couldn’t dance at all, and Hanzawa who was behind me was laughing his head off.
Hanzawa: Sorry! Because it was so funny…
Yasui: How cruel (laughs).
Hanzawa: For me, recently, “YOU Konto shichai na yo” was impressive. Before the studio recording, Tsukada (Ryoichi)-kun and I promised, “Let’s help each other out!” and I intended to talk a lot. But when the actual recording happened, I couldn’t get into the flow at all…
Yasui: Jesse couldn’t come to the studio, but when he appeared in “BL Gakuen” he was so cool, and the audience were saying “Kyaa!”.
Jesse: Well that, I thought of (Nakajima) Kento as a girl the whole time. Because if I didn’t, I would end up laughing.
Yasui: Nakajima totally broke out of his shell, didn’t he? (laughs) If there is a next time, I’d like to put on make-up and stuff and appear. Hirano-kun, don’t you want to appear together next time too? The Kansai kids’ comedy skits are amazing, right? Even if they mess up, with a “What is it?” feeling, their hearts are strong!
Hirano: I’m from Nagano so I’m not good at comedy skits yet… but I’ll do my best!

This is a pretty old article that I browsed through a few months back. Since I haven’t downloaded new magazine scans for this month yet, I decided to translate this for the time being. Call me biased, but Hanzawa was pretty funny in this. I actually did notice his nose the first time I saw him. LOL. I’m sad Hirano didn’t speak much, but it’s understandable because he’s not yet very close to the other Tokyo Juniors yet.
I hope you enjoyed reading this. Again, I am still learning the language so please bear with me. If you see any mistakes, please feel free to correct me. :)
