The man in the pinstripe suit picked the girl up as if she were a feather and carried her back into the big blue wooden box. Sam took a couple of steps forward and the man stepped out from the blue box and held up a pen-like thing with a blue light and flashed it at him, like a camera, before heading back into the blue box. Sam went to follow him, but a shout from Gene made him whip around. The man Gene had been wrestling had broken loose from his bear like grip and was making a dash for it. The Gene-Genie started running after him, and so did Sam. Sam caught up to him easily and bowled him over, while Gene finally caught up and cuffed him.
The blue box disappeared.
No one saw it go; no one’s seen it since. Several of the gang members swore never to touch weed again if it was going to make them see stuff like that. All witnesses and people involved in the brawl had been taken into the station for questioning. Only Sam, Gene, Chris and Ray remained.
Sighing wearily, Sam stepped into the Ford and pulled the door shut and buried his head in his hands. The car shook as Gene, Ray and Chris stepped inside, slamming their doors. Sam lifted his head back up and looked into the rear-view window.
“Buckling up back there are we Tweedle-dum?” Gene asked threateningly as Sam saw Chris stopping mid-way with the seat-belt. Obviously he didn’t want to be squished fruit again.
“Um... no, I was just stretching,” Chris let go of the seat belt, ashamed, and it snapped back in place with a thud.
Sam sighed and did his own seat belt up.
“Right, off we go; down the yellow brick road!” Gene stomped on the accelerator.
Gene took one of his hands off the wheel to turn up the radio, smirking as Sam groaned in disgust.
“Quit complaining Dorothy,” he jeered.
Suddenly the radio station crackled and the song stopped.
“Sam, I’m sorry; I’m not strong enough, so it’s going to hurt. We just have to test something...”
‘What in Aunty Mag’s blooming knickers... test, Sam?’ Gene thought, as the radio went dead. His train of thoughts were cut short as Sam doubled over, wincing in pain.
“Pull... over,” Sam demanded through gritted teeth. He yelped and bent lower.
Gene stomped on the brake and swerved to the side of the road.
“Sam; what’s going on!” He demanded, trying to disguise his panic.
Sam didn’t answer him. Instead he fumbled with the door handle and swung it open, rolling out of the car and onto the sidewalk. Gene jumped out of the car, vaguely aware of Chris and Ray doing the same.
“Boss you alright?” Chris went to run over to the huddled Sam.
He stopped though as Sam screeched loud enough to wake the dead. Sam’s whole body shook as a powerful spasm racked through him.
“Tyler!” Gene yelled, half-shuffled, half-jogged towards Sam. He stopped with Sam a foot away and went to crouch down.
“Get... away from me!” Gene wasn’t too sure if Sam was talking to him, or himself. Sam buckled over again, before throwing his head to the sky, screaming.
“The drums... oh these drums... these never ending drums; they’re back. Yet... so am I,”
