On 29 December 2010, I met up w Sam again to go to Valentino Retrospective: Past/Present/Future. Meep, we got lost in the convention centre in RWS. There was like this place and we both leaned over to look what’s downstairs and both got scared LOL. That whole place’s dark & scary!!!! AND COLD. We continued being lost and exploring the place for very long before finally exiting and found the Valentino exhibition to be just left of the exit.
The exhibition was very, very, very dimly lit. (Later explained by a sign that read "In the exhibition, the Valentino designs are subjected to low light levels for conservation purposes in order to preserve them for future generations." when we got out) Hell I even had trouble reading the descriptions of each piece ;A; But the darkness of the place made the shiny beaded and sequined gowns glow in resplendence though. Gorgeous. Valentino’s masterpieces had intricate details and very fine work… most likely done by a mega machine that Sam & I think. C’mon, you totally gotta see the FULLY sequined gown… the detail is mindblowing. I kept staring at how neatly the sequins were layered over each other for minutes before Sam stared at ‘em too and told me it was done by a sewing machine LOL. I totally forgot. I took photos of some pieces too!! The Fall 09 Couture ‘tattoo dress’ is my favourite out of ‘em all ♥ I could stare at the lace, sequins, feathers and gems all day long… it doesn’t even look half as good in photos or on the runway. And there was this other timeless peach pink gown that in no way looks like it’s from either 1963/1986. One of the years there, I forgot. But the point is, the design’s still classy despite the number of decades that has passed since the creation of the stunning piece.
When we had finally finished viewing all the works, it was pouring outside sigh. We explored RWS a teeny weeny bit and sat down in front of what, Lake of Dreams (!?!!) for like 15 mins because we were so tired rofl. AND THEN WE HAD TO JOIN AN INCREDIBLY LONG Q TO TAKE THE MONORAIL BACK TO VIVO.
Left) The 'tattoo' dress from Fall 09 Couture, Right) The classy timeless piece dated from 1963/1986!
SICK
STILL SICK
All the tigers' eyes were beaded... except for one at the back which had its bead fall off LOL
Ending the entry with my favourite of them all :)
