Well, I've been in Bs. As. for the past ten days or so, and so far I have been visiting family so much that I am almost ready to scream. It's been fun though, so different from the US.
It is a bit of a desperate time- everyone is afraid of being mugged or robbed, and have been for the past couple of years. Nobody walks alone, and there are more and more homeless people on the streets. People are desperate for work, and so protest daily in the capital- there are two very visible groups, one an ever growing of the people without work, and the other a small but bright group of violent tranvestite prostitutes. Yesterday they tried to burn the Justice Building. All statues are defaced, but the graffitti is in the Argentine style, that is, mostly political.
At the same time I saw the Flower of Buenos Aires, a huge metal sculpture that stands in a huge borderless fountain. It opens and closes with the sun, and standing next to it, you feel awe.
I barely have time to go online, and when I do I check my favorite RPG and
hp_remix- so far I have been able to keep up at an okay pace, and hopefully will be able to continue doing so in the near future.
Tomorrow I am going to go into beaurocracy, to get my identity papers renewed (oh, joy). Tonight though, is so peaceful- I did not visit anyone today, and now I sit while my grandmother knits for me a scarf made of llama wool (it feels so different from sheep wool, has a different scent, and is warmer) and I am so happy I came.
