Movies, and Emotions through writing.

This weekend I saw the Hollywood movie "The Day After Tomorrow" (I should probably look for the site, but am feeling to lazy to do so). It was not a great movie, but it was entertaining. I know for a fact that there is very little scientific theory behind it, but it is a nice thought to believe that people will take this movie seriously enough to start worrying about global warming.

Some aspects I especially liked-

The special effects- I would not be surprised if this won the Visual Effects award at the next Oscars- they are pretty amazing. I really really liked the clouds, and the storms seen from above.

The fact that the president and vice president are blatently supposed to represent Bush and Cheney.

The Americans becoming refugees in Mexico only after the president forgives all Latin American debt. Apparently, even I am not completely immune to patriotism. ;)

I mean, this movie is not great- there are a lot of plot holes, blunders thrown in for more drama, I suppose, but really, there is such a thing as going too far! but it was entertaining.

However, the movie left me with one overwhelming thought- the screenwriter had so much fun writing this! And this is what made the movie at all enjoyable- because one could see the humor poking through, and you just know that at times the screenwriters must have been laughing as he was writing.

With this thought in mind, I went and checked hp_survivor and I got the exact opposite feeling. I have really been enjoying this RPG since it was started, and felt that the stories were going on amazingly. I do/did have some favorite characters, mostly Slytherins, I admit, but I have been liking some of the Gryffindors. I was sad when Lucius was voted off- since he was my favorite character- but I was still looking forward to reading how the game would continue, since I also liked Snape, Narcissa, Bellatrix, Charlie, Remus.

However, due to recent events, I do not know if I will have the same enjoyment in reading the continuation and conclusion of the game. I do not know any of the players or the moderator- I have never commented on the game- I have just been lurking happily in my little corner, smiling as the game twisted and seeing how the characters reacted. However, with the potions confiscated and Snape leaving, and the whole bad feeling that seems to surround this whole affair, I am starting to wonder if the rest of the game will be any fun to watch at all. There just seems to be so much bad blood about it all. As if the players are no longer having any fun playing. I have no idea what is going on behind the scenes, but it just seems as if everyone is angry and bitter.

Then again, all this negative feeling coming from the game may simply be because in less than a week my three favorite characters are out.

ETA- Oh, good news! It seems that underlucius and elgoose are starting a new community after_survivor to continue their Lucius and Snape characters. Yeah! =D
