I should really be doing work, but I wandered by, and since it has been a while since I've recced anything (and I've read some really amazing stories in the meantime!) I figure I will mention a few wonderful stories for escapism following
scribbulus_ink's
model.
So here goes- I'll do this one in both the X-Men fandom (my first fandom though I am merely a lurker there)and Harry Potter.
1) Re-read for comfort.
Harry Potter:
Harry Potter and the Daughter of Malfoy by Fyre.
gen, PG-13
mpreg
Yes, it's mpreg, but it's hilarious mpreg. I always turn to humor for comfort, and this story made me almost cry with laughter. Harry gets accidentally pregnant with Lucius Malfoy's child. And the funniest Narcissa ever. Very light and enjoyable.
X-men:
Rumpled by
alestarComicverse, Remy/Bobby, not rated, but I'd give it a PG
Gossip about a possible hypothetical sexual encounter between Remy and Bobby as discussed by Paige and Jubilee. Simply hysterical. You don't even have to be in the fandom to enjoy it, since it's meaning comes through really clearly.
2) A sorchingly hot story read recently.
Harry Potter:
This one's hard, since most of the HP porn I've read recently has been on a_s. But, here goes.
Something to Squeal About by
amanuensis1Luna/Cho, NC-17
bondage
Mmmm, corsets and bondage, some of my biggest kinks. And so I get a lot out of this story. Amanuensis always writes such hot stories.
X-men:
Things Have Changed by
3janeMovieverse, Scott/Gambit and Scott/Jean, NC-17
teacher-student relationship, age of student described only as a teen
I am so happy I came across this story the other day. It is one of the best teacher-student stories that I have read simply because the characters know it is wrong and yet, it happens. The characterization is beautiful, the breakdown and rebuilding of the psyche are all breathtaking. Amazingly well-written.
3) Long story read for escapism.
Harry Potter:
In Academia Series by
wikdsushiSS/LM, SS/SB, SS/PP, SS/Avery, SS/LV, SS/TR, SS/RL, SS/JP, SS/OMC, SS/OFC, SS/LE, NC-17
rape, torture, and death
It's a dark series, but I like dark, and it's my favorite of Sushi's works. Snape is a bastard in this, but he's wonderful at it, and his family life was particularly well done, in my opinion. The characterizations of Lucius, Voldemort, and Remus (and the rest of MWPP too, come to think of it) are amazing. And I just love the concept, that of that one doesn't have to be one of the good guys to be admired, and that love and other emotions are not exclusively for the 'Light' side. Really, really great.
X-men:
On Love and Lust in Mutant High by
seperisMovieverse, Bobby/St.John, PG-13-NC-17
A very light series, though it takes serious turns at times. It's all high school drama, and everyone hooks up, and there's a happy ending. I love the narrator's voice (Johnny), and the wit and twists and turns of the melodrama made me fly through all the stories in this series. Jenn is a wonderful writer, and this was my first introduction to her- highly enjoyable.
