"Bathe my skin in water cool and cleansing, and feel, feel what it's like to be new."

It's 5 am in the morning, and I've been awake now for nearly an hour and a half. I think I wake up earlier every day, although whether from the time change or the constant fears and worries inside my head, I'm not sure. So now here I am, sitting in my dark motel room as Sean sleeps in the bed next to the chair I'm sitting in, and the cats run ( Read more... )

Oh, honey. Of course she was crying because she was sad to see you go. Don't you know how much people love both you and Sean, how important you are to others?

Sweetie. :)

I know you're home now, and are able to relax a bit more in the comfort of your family, having finally arrived at your destination. I'm glad FEMA has finally come through for you, and that you can finally rest in one place for a while. I miss you guys, but I'm glad you're in a safe and familiar place.

Rachel's post about some friendships phasing in and out really hit home for me; I open up to so few people that I don't think I realized, until Sean told me you were both leaving for California, how much the two of you had come to mean to me, and how scared I was that our friendship would fade with your move to the west coast.

It took me a day of freaking out to realize how afraid I was of that, how much it really shook me to the core... and then to realize how baseless that fear was. You guys really are like family to me.

I'm going to finalize my travel plans to CA this week; I'll send you that info when I do. In the meantime, keep trying to be as kind to yourself as possible. Breathe in deep. Listen to your heart.

And know that many, many, many people love you a lot.

I love you, Otter. Can't wait to see you in October - I feel so blessed that you will be in our wedding, and that you are my friend. Have no fear about our friendship fading - whether we're in Santa Fe or New York City, you're always welcome in our house and I'm sure we have many adventures (the kind that don't involve hurricanes) ahead of us.
