"You see you don't have to live like a refugee ..."

The Tom Petty song, "Refugee," came on the other day while Heather, Sean, Brian and I were sitting at Roly Poly in Birmingham, and we couldn't help but laugh and sing along a little bit. We're supposedly not supposed to use that term, refugee, but I'm pretty much feeling like I'll call myself whatever I want as of right now.

Today has been one of the better days, whereas yesterday was probably the worst one so far. As Sean said, the numbness is starting to wear off and we're really starting to feel the pain. But then today came and I got right into the shower, started the laundry, plotted our trek across the country, reserved motels, paid some bills online ... and then went to lie down for four hours with a raging migraine. Funny how your body let's you know that things are not okay.

We are leaving Alabama tomorrow morning and will drive to Shreveport, then on Wednesday will drive from Shreveport to Wichita Falls. On Thursday we'll continue to Santa Fe, then Flagstaff on Friday, Palm Desert on Saturday to stay one night with Sean's parents, and then to my mom and dad's house in Goleta on Sunday. It'll be a struggle, I know, but I also know that we'll make it to where we need to go. Looking forward to seeing my friend, Stacey, along the way, as well as the Grand Canyon, too.

Not much else here, just trying to get stuff done to prepare for leaving. There's really so much business to take care of ... gotta run, as we are going to the pet store for kitty litter and food, the gas station, and have to finish laundry, etc. Wish us luck, say a prayer, cross your fingers or what have you that we make it safe and sound to California.
