shimmeringjewel When: A few weeks ago, after Euram's 'talk' with Shoon.
Where: Outside the main manor....And it's cold!
What: Euram in disbelief =D
Warning: Unfinished...because of the unhappy tendency for us to both be busy or otherwise lazy.
Euram was currently doing what he did best; running away from a situation he didn’t feel like dealing with. He’d just tried to compliment that gladiator, and all he’d done was yell at him. It wasn’t fair! Especially since everything Shoon had said was true. He had almost made it back to the doors of the manse when a lone patch of ice in the cleared path brought his run to a halt and sent him down painfully on his backside.
Jewel had just stepped out to catch a breath of fresh air. It didn't take long for her to decide it was a bad decision, as a gust of wind sent chills down her spine. She was just about to turn and head back inside when she saw Euram running towards the building. She raised a hand with a smile to greet him, but it disappeared as she saw him fall. Gasping, she hurried over as fast as she felt with safe. "Hey! Are you alright!?" She said as she offered him a hand.
“Ow,” Euram said, wincing and hoping no one saw that…which of course meant someone had. “Of course I’m not alright!” he yelled, still in tantrum mode from dealing with Shoon. He finally looked up at who was speaking to him and the rest of the tirade was replaced by sullen pouting. “Ow…” he complained again, taking the hand, and stood up almost tripping on the same patch of ice again.
Euram grasped Jewel’s arm, finally getting his feet again. So wrapped up in himself, he hardly noticed the concern Jewel was showing - especially as it was not expected. “Hmm?” He asked, looking up and putting on a face. “I..Haha, Why nowhere. Yes…there is nowhere to be around here, have you not noticed that yet, haha…ha.”
Her smile began to return as his hand grasped back at her. "Yeah...I've noticed there's not much going on, is there? So what prompted you to take a jog through the ice?" She looked at him with genuine curiousity.
“Ah well,” Euram said not knowing exactly how to answer such a straight-forward question.
“Obviously, your eyes deceived you, as that was not a jog…merely a brisk walk…away from one of the more unpleasant people I have been forced to reside with.”
"Oh.." Jewel wanted to point out that she was trying to be funny, but decided better of it after hearing the explanation. "I guess I've been lucky enough not to meet any unpleasant people since I came here." She smiled sweetly at him. "...I don't suppose you'd want to talk about it?"
“Ah, it is only a matter of time, I am sure,” Euram predicted gravely. “Their presence infests every inch of this castle and it’s grounds.” Euram hadn’t picked up on any of her humor, in his own world as he was. However, he was brought out by the unexpected concerned question. Before coming here he would have assumed that of course she was worried for him, as everyone was! His experience at Budehuc had turned him to the other extreme where he believed no one was. He raised an eyebrow at the question, suspicious about what her angle could be. “..Why such interest?”
Jewel had no idea her question would be considered out of place or up front, so she was a bit surprised upon hearing his answer, or lack there of. "Uh..." She stopped blankly for a moment, wondering why she should have to explain herself, but quickly brushed it off with an honest response. "I guess I've just come to consider you a friend. That's all."
Euram was never able to hide his emotions, he tried, but no matter how well he blocked them some part of what he felt showed clearly on his face. As such, the shift from suspicion to shock was plain to read. “Oh…” he got out, not able to think of anything else. He didn’t hear the word ‘friend’ often, in fact except for Sigurd no one used it in regards to him and it still got him off guard. “…Really?”
Jewel giggled at his response, but it was it was totally well meaning. "Well yeah! You're the only new person I've met here who's been as friendly." ...Or as cute, she finished in her head. "I mean...you gave me a gift and everything!"
The shock remained only for a moment before it was replaced by a large dorky grin. “Oh!...” he straightened now suddenly trying to act cool once again. “Yes, I have often found myself commenting on the unfriendly atmosphere!” He grasped a hand dramatically to his chest “It is so horrible that more have been forced to endure it.”
Happy to see him back to his 'usual' self, she clasped her hands together behind her back and leaned forward. "Well, it's really not so bad. I mean...I guess it's just as much my fault. I haven't been doing my part in getting to know people." She looked out at the ice and snow covered estate. "I mean..people have been so busy trying to deal with stuff, that I felt I shouldn't get in the way with such trivial things, you know?"
Fueled by her interest, his dramatics amplified with the extravagant movements of his arms emphasizing each word. “Yes, they are all entirely too preoccupied with trivial details and forget the most common of courtesies!” He said sounding entirely put out.
Then we stopped. Because we're lazy. *nods* We'll finish a log one day. I swear. no...really......
