1. So um. Y'all know I have a (not-so-)secret fondness for ducks. mmmmm Peking duck And well, this
Ahiru (Princess Tutu) moodtheme is just sooooooooo cute and MADE OF WIN. <3 (the original post about it is
here)
2.
Snape meta that makes me feel a bit better about the way his, err, motivations and backstory re: a certain someone were handled in HP7. Obviously spoilerful.
3.
All Those Empty Spaces (PG): Petunia fic! HP7 spoilers and <3
4.
An Introduction to Drawing in Charcoal (G): Dean/Luna. The one pairing (other than the obvious Ron/Hermione and Albus/Gellert) I came out of HP7 absolutely adoring. This fic captures some of that quiet, gentle, whimsical feeling of the relationship that I got from various subtexty moments. I think I am just a sucker for soft, lonely-but-peaceful seaside imagery though.

The Off-Screen Movie: Very fascinating column on the "off-screen movie" and how it "creates momentum", adding to the on-screen story. This was directed more at screenwriters, obviously, but I think it's interesting to think about for prose writers as well.... i.e. the things you leave out in order to make the story more effective.
So I go to Ted and tell him this off-screen movie idea and he immediately gets it. We talk it over and realize: nearly all great movies have key events happening off-screen. And most of the terrible movies we could think of had very little happening off-screen; you see it all.
And Ted comes up with a great line, worthy of the Wordplay quote box: "So the way to make a boring movie," he says, "is to show everything."
eta: 6. I want a
treehouse too. :(

Movies. Sex. On writing (good) sexy stuff. Darn. I like this site. Much food for thought. (is mostly amused/interested because this is from an intelligent male POV. most online discussions about writing sex are by female writers)

"Plot Devices." Another good one.
Ok, I'm going to stop editing this post now... :D
