Damn, as if I needed anymore distractions!
See, the one good thing (or not, depending on your perspective), is that because of the whole art stealing fiasco, I have now stumbled across a few new webcomics worth following. Upping my count from a measly two (
xkcd_rss and
Errant Story).... to possibly four or five.
1.
Kagerou (
kageroumanga): Gorgeous art. I love the style. The artist is waaay talented. Surprisingly likeable characters (the protagonist is a longhaired redhead with multiple personalities and trauma and serious issues -- but it actually *works* and is non-annoying, despite this being one of my most hated character types ever... probably because there is actually little to no waaangst at all, strangely enough. Just a lot of fucked-up-ness that plays an active rather than passive role in the plot). Speaking of which, surprisingly good plot (fantasy).
Also?
The cutest goddamn foxes ever. 2.
leveL: Also incredible art. The earliest art sucks (artist is completely self-trained), though he's redoing the crappy art sections when he has time, apparently. But later art? Kicks ass. Besides, the story more than makes up for it, though admittedly I haven't gotten far enough to make a final judgment on whether or not I'm going to keep following this. But I mean, it's CYBERPUNK. Whooo.
There are a few other links I'm checking out/will be checking out.
It's rare to find a combination of good art and good storytelling in the webcomic scene. Squee. Good art only is nice, but boring. Good story only, but crappy art, and I just can't read on. Hurts my eyes. Or maybe I've just been looking in the wrong places. Anyway, awesome find.
Too bad I have a project to work on all weekend. Sigh. At least I'll actually get to SLEEP today, after a whole week of slaving around for nothing.
