Extra 03 “Is it okay for me to be in love with you?”
“W-wait a minute!” He raised his hands as a gesture for me to stop. His head was bowed but I could see the flush of pink on his cheeks as he caught his breath.
I kept silent, stopping myself from walking towards him and wrapping him in an embrace, seeing as he was trying to sort out his thoughts.
“Okay, I’ve calmed down now.” I smiled in amusement as I watched him be all cute and totally not calm. “You said you l-love me..?”
“No.” I grinned when his eyes widened. “I said, is it okay for me to be in love with you?” He narrowed his eyes at me and shouted, “That’s the same thing!” I laughed. Adorable.
“Nevermind! I’m leaving!” Nino announced, totally annoyed at me which was cute but wouldn’t be if I don’t let it end right now. “I’m sorry. Don’t leave.” I grabbed him by the wrist and he stopped trying to walk away.
I shortened the remaining distance between us and wrapped my other hand around his waist from behind, pulling him so much closer. I whispered in his ear, “I love you.”
His cheeks were visibly red and I was completely contented in letting time stop because honestly, I was afraid of being rejected. I somehow knew Nino feels something for me but I wasn’t sure if it’s strong enough for him to completely move on and forget about Sakurai.
But then he nodded.
I loosened my hold on him, turning him around to get a good look at his face. He didn’t say anything more, just stared at my eyes with what I interpreted as adoration and possibly love.
I couldn’t hold it in any longer; he looked so adorable I just had to.
I kissed him.
It was the first time I kissed a man. I thought it would be an odd feeling, totally different from what I’ve already experienced. But Nino’s lips were soft, and the kiss felt so perfect that I could just keep on doing this forever.
Nino was the one who pulled away, panting in short breaths and trying to fill in the air his lungs were lacking.
He turned around when he saw me watching him. He started to walk but stopped after a few steps. He didn’t face me but he held his hand out.
I caught up with him, taking the hand he offered. Hand in hand, we walked. It wasn’t merely a walk to his house; it was our first few steps into a future where we were together.
It all started as an arrangement, a forced meeting. But how it started didn’t matter. What mattered was that this person, who at the beginning said he hated me, has become someone really important in my life, and I in his.
We fell in love, and it was something that any arrangements couldn’t have forced. Nino and I were meant to be together, and I’ll make sure it’ll stay that way from here on out.
“Hey what did you say to my dad?”
“Hmm? I told him... I’ll marry you.”
