In the little time left till my arrival at Narita, my mind was filled with thoughts of Nino and Satoshi’s situation. “How should I face them?” was the most prominent question stuck in my head.
I never thought a month would feel so long.
And within that one month I have not stopped thinking about Satoshi.
That’s what scared me the most.
I thought this assignment will distract me; make me forget.
But it didn’t. And I found myself longing for him more and more, clearing the doubts I had as to what I feel towards him.
I’ve heard from Jun that Satoshi and Nino are getting along well and are slowly progressing towards re-establishing their relationship so I’m pretty sure my return would disrupt everything. That or at least make it awkward for all of us.
But my work as an on-site reporter for the Olympics has ended. So now, I have no choice but face them almost every single day and smile as if nothing was wrong.
“Sho-chan!!! Welcome back!” As soon as I opened the car door I heard Aiba squeal excitedly. At the same time, his arms flung around me and I was completely wrapped in a whole lot of Aiba.
I eagerly returned the hug, my smile stretched up as I surveyed the insides of the car.
Jun, who was seated beside Aiba, seemed extremely pleased to see me. My hand automatically reached out and patted him on the head. “Ah I missed this.” I thought as I marvelled in the warmth encasing me and the soft feel of the locks of Jun’s hair.
My eyes moved towards the backmost seat inside the van. Cuddling in the corner was Nino and Satoshi who seemed equally delighted about my return. “Welcome back, Sho-chan.” Nino greeted me as he tugged Satoshi to sit up and say hello. “I’m glad you’re back, Sho.” he said with his usual sleepy smile and once again, those unwanted feelings came back to me along with the loud beating of my heart.
I stuttered as I returned the greeting; my gaze fixed on the two of them who were intimately close at the back.
“Sho-san, come sit here.” Jun called out to me and I gave him a grateful look as I nodded and moved to his side; Aiba made space for me to sit in.
The whole ride back, Jun and Aiba were updating me with the events I missed but I was barely registering the things I was being told due to the distractions and the sounds coming from behind me.
Nino was whispering, “Stop Oh-chan. They’ll hear.”
And Satoshi chuckling mischievously and continuing his actions.
“WOULD YOU TWO CUT IT OUT?!”
