Every time I have a good weekend, I feel like I have to document it, even if I don't feel like it. I think I want to be able to read back about it later, even though it'll probably be very un-interesting, because I never wanted to write it in the first place.
Anyway, Friday. Lins was in Berkeley, so I went to meet her for lunch before I had to head out to work. Almost got into a car, which was scary. A lady was trying to switch lanes without checking to see if anyone could be in her blind spot, especially as she was switching from 2 lanes over. Anyway, I saw her, and didn't think she was going to merge into me, realized she was, and instead of looking for my horn (I can't ever find the damn thing when I need it) I swerved out of the way. Luckily, there was no one next to me, which is what scared me later (what if someone had been in the next lane?), because she had NO idea what she had done until after I swerved. What was scary was that the swerving motion reminded me of my only previous accident of spinning out on the freeway, even though this only lasted a second. Anyway, had a good lunch, a decent day at work, and a good sleep that night. Didn't see my Friday night Hitchcock, even though I had checked out 'Psycho' (which would probably skip).
Instead of going to the Ellen Tauscher town hall meeting the next morning, I slept in, although I did hear all about it today. Didn't do anything special until Lins and I headed out to Berkeley to meet Rebeca, Koustubh, and Jermaine. Of course didn't meet them at the prescribed time, which gave me and Lins a little time to hang out a coffee shop. Jermaine drove us into SF, with plenty of backseat directions after not getting us to the park in time. Eventually, we made it to Golden Gate Park (with the help of my directions that I picked up from canvassing :), hung out at the Japanese Tea Gardens, took lots of pictures, and then found a place for dinner. The food was pretty good, although a little mild for my tastes, but definitely not enough for me. And a tad overpriced. Speaking of overpriced: went to the Bubble Lounge, where I had the first round of drinks. And I happened to choose a shot that was $9 (!!!) but was pretty good. But there was nowhere to sit. So off to Medicine, a vegetarian sushi place that was just waiting for us to feed us. They gave us lots of free food, and redid my drink, even though it was fine/better the first time. So I got 2 drinks. After being fed and watered, off to Ozumo, a bar/lounge/restaurant that had music playing while we walked in, but the DJ (who gave me a great big smile) left a minute later. And the bathrooms were playing common phrases in Japanese. But who remembers these things after they sober up? Didn't get home till 1am, which was too late for the parentals. But oh well.
Today: went for a run, and had lots of energy (probably from the calories I drank), then to church, where I got my car washed (as well as my soul I guess, but probably not), then to Lauren's graduation party, where there were lots of people I don't know. But had fun after Bridget appeared, and then off to Seneca's for a potluck. Apparently my father disapproves of my socializing with coworkers, especially (not because) if they're in ghetto Oakland and male. Whatever, though. Can't give up my limited social life because of a lame reason like that. Pretty chill, which was just what I needed.
End of weekend. Now off to read "Marnie", the book from which the movie was based.
