So, I saw GoF last week, and I've been meaning to post about it... but it's taken me a while to figure out exactly what I had to say about it (and also I'm totally lazy when it comes to this whole posting thing). I mean, I enjoyed it, and there wasn't much that I didn't like, but it didn't have the squee elements that PoA had for me. Except at the ( Read more... )

Great review! You have an excellent critical brain, but then, I guess you should :) Just to let you know, I saw it on Saturday with my dickhead of a boyfriend, who hasn't read the books, and he seemed to think it made sense. I don't know if that counts though coz he isn't really that into the movies either, and he DID fall asleep for 40 minutes or so and then got really grumpy when I nudged him to wake him up. Like, hello, we paid $27 to see it in gold class, the least he could do is stay awake for the whole movie???? Anyway, I thought it was awesome, but the best part was the preview for Narnia... I was DEFINITELY hyperventilatey!!! :) hehe

Review... more of a fangirlish rambling, I think. Heh. :)

It's good to hear that it was still comprehensible to people who haven't read it. There's probably levels of meaning or whatever. Me, I just like teh pretty. :P

And Narnia... I haven't read the book since I was very young, but everything I've been hearing about the hardcore Christian subtext isn't making me overenthusiastic... I'll still probably see it, though. If only to be snarky :)

Yep definitely HEAPS of overt Christian preachiness will abound. They have to do that if they want to make it true to the book! :( Still, I loved it without reservation when I was a kid and still like reading 'em now, so I think putting up with that is a sacrifice I can make! Just, hehe...

Hehe, totally :) You can overlook all sorts of things for books you adore.

oh yeah and since my fangirlish rambling would consist of nothing more than "it was good!" or perhaps "it was really good!" coz i can't remember any details, I am still impressed.. ;P
