When Glasgow Uni decided that we should all live up to the wonderful standards of Strathclyde, they introduced these godawful nuisances called Semesters, ostensibly to help co-ordinate studies with our superior, city-centre neighbour. Unfortunately, nobody told the real people at Glasgow about the change. It's not like we have different courses. We don't have holidays at different times. Most confusingly, as well as two semesters, we also have three terms. So now, if you're lucky, your first semester occurs in terms 1 and 2, whilst your second one happens in terms 2 and 3. If you're unlucky, like me, then semester one gets crammed into term 1, semester 2 shoe-horned into term 2, and all your exams brought forward a month to the start of term 3, thus taking about a third off my learning time. And, of course, making it all the harder to co-ordinate with those superbly organised individuals at Strathy. Not that I've heard any evidence of any co-ventures with Strathy from any departments.
IT WAS ALL A SCAM! IT WAS ALL SPIN! Gimme a break.
Term (not semester) is now in full swing, except that one of my lecturers neglected to order his text books on time so we're still waiting for them to arrive in the shop, and another one neglected to order more than one library copy of his course texts, so I have to wait til february for them. Otherwise, things are looking good. The fact that I'm killing such pointless time on LJ obviously means I'm at work in the library already...
