Yunho reminded me that the theme of the party is “ALTER EGO”. I briefly thought of coming in there with my spear, my spare knives and wing black wings in full size. Then I thought that wouold be overkill and will attract too much attention- especially since said wings are actual parts of my guardian body, they will react to touch, feel warm and have a pulse, just like normal bird wings. My inner joker harrumphed in disappointment, we haven’t used my wings as of late and it would have been so much fun flaring said wings in full width and shocking the humans. My serious sensible self clucked his tounge at my inner joker and did a short lecture about practicality. He won of course, my sensible self, just because it also pointed out that my wings will not fit in the car.

I decided to go in dark skinny jeans, a white button down shirt, and a black leather jacket with matching boots. I guess I can fit in as a K-pop star. That is the concept I kept hearing from the other people at school. Well, the major groups are K-pop, horror and Victoria Secret Angels. Horror takes time, and I certainly don’t have time for a horror get-up and well, being Victoria Secret Angel is off the list without any question needed. I may have wings but they are definitely not going with lingerie.

“You do have fine legs to go with their sky-high-hills though. People can fall in love by just seeing your legs you know.” My friend Gin said from behind. I jumped in surprised and glared at her, mumbling some litany about knocking while I’m glaring.

“Get out of my head, now!” I ordered. Gin is a guardian like me. She is not a death angel though; she is a guardian in the actual sense of it. A guardian angel if you want to place a title for her position. She protects and guides the weak, may it be body or will.

She giggled. “We both know I can’t. We are too attuned to each other. Besides, what fun will it be to quit hearing your interesting inner battles?” Gin was my old charge. Like Yunho is right now, she died at age 27 but looking at her now you can assume she is 20, her Oriental heritage coming into play.

“What are you doing here?”

“Other that ogling at your legs?”

I mentally sighed; we got too close when I was in charge of her, now she doesn’t even consider me a senior. She treats me like just an ordinary guy in the same age group.

“Given we all die between around the same age… technically we are in the same group right?” Gin replied at my unvoiced commentary.

“Fine, fine. Seriously, is there something up?”

“We don’t think it is anything major, but since Yunho is almost coming of age, Ri wants you to be careful. She says she feels something uneasy about the air tonight.”

“I guess that is to be expected.” Yunho’s survival game with soul eaters will start soon enough.

Gin flipped her straight black hair and half turned towards my window. “I think it will be a shame if he dies young, he would be a fantastic father.”

“I think so too.”I picked up my watch and left the room as soon as I hear Yunho’s footsteps in the hallway. I locked my door behind me. Gin can pop herself out, with or without my guidance.
When I saw my brother my eyebrow automatically shot upwards. “Uh, did they changed plans and decided to go for formal since Sindong’s grandpa might have a stroke when he sees the Victoria Secret attired girls?”

Yunho shook his head slowly. “This is my alter ego.”

I stared. HARD. “A guy in suit?”

“A manager.” He replied in a matter-of-factly tone.

“Manager.” I repeated, still dumbfounded, if my way of staring is an indication.

“You know, Kpop star’s manager. We actually kinda match, you’re going in like a K-pop star right? I’ll be your manager! I’ll keep the fangirls at bay.” He grinned with a lot of wattage in the works. Thank the Lifesource I didn’t get blind. With that smile I would have won a fireworks exhibition contest single-handedly. That doesn’t fit. We could have brighten up a whole frickin city!

“I’m changing my mind, I’ll just go and look for my Scream mask.” I turned to walk back to my room but he dragged me out into the elevators and then into the car. Damn Energizer Bunny, he’s slim but packs a lot of muscle and man-power.

“Fine, if you don’t want me as your manager, I’ll be the VS Angel’s manager. I’ll keep you off of them and you will regret declining my earlier offer.”

“Keep manhandling me and I’ll think you’re a pimp slash bouncer!”

He just laughed and half carried- half dragged me into the driver’s seat.
I just sure hope I survive this expectedly long night.
