The nominations for Winter 06 are now available to access in the Files folder at the Shikon Yahoo Groups. I strongly recommend members to join the Yahoo Groups to access these files.
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/shikonawards/ Several of the categories had to be combined because of lack of entries.
Here are those categories:
Best Ensemble and Best Action/Adventure = Best Genfic
Best AU/AR and Best Crossover = Best AU/AR/Crossover
Several of the fics did not past the first screening, which is basically checking for eligibility dates.
All categories [EXCEPT BEST WORK IN PROGRESS] accepted completed nominations from January 1, 2006 to June 30, 2006. If your nominations were before or after that, it was placed on the ineligible list.
The Best WIP category only accepted work in progress nominations with the MOST RECENT CHAPTER published between the dates July 1, 2005 and June 30, 2006 to qualify. If your nomination’s most recent chapter was not within those dates, the fic no longer qualifies. If you nominated a fic that was eligible during that time and then was completed after you nominated it, it was allowed per the regulations decided on by the shikon staff last Session that: WIPs nominated and eligible at the time of nomination that were completed remain in the WIP category because it was a “WIP” at that time. The fic is also eligible for the completed categories in the next session depending upon the eligibility dates.
If you see your fic in the “Ineligible List” a note is attached telling you why it was ineligible. Most fics will be eligible next session.
The Judging process is now under way. Each judge that applied and was accepted will be getting their temporary judging assignments by the end of the week. Then starts our five week judging period: three weeks to read the nominations and shortlist, based on spelling, grammar, characterization and plot. The next two weeks will be the placement of the Best Overall and Best Runner up, determined by the judges in that category.
NO judges that were nominated in a category will be judging that category.
If we do not meet our judging schedule, we will post announcements if there are delays.
Thank you, Members, for supporting the Shikon Awards.
