Almost three years. It'd been almost three years now since the twins had been born. And they had another one on the way. Even now Joshua could hardly believe it. A father, -him-. Though it was pretty hard to deny it. One look at their little girl and it was more than obvious who her father was. Heh, and their son looked more like Neku by the day though he'd thankfully taken after his mother in demeanor.
Speaking of the mother and father of his children the two were sound asleep beside him, Shiki snuggling into his arm while Neku nuzzled into her hair. That the two of them had stayed with him was in itself a miracle. They could have just as easily had a normal wedding and a normal family and lived comfortably and easily without any of the hastle they went through daily. No questions about why their children looked so different or why they had another adult man living with them who had a striking resemblance to their daughter.
Thud thud thud. He knew that sound. The twins were up. "Daddy!" And they'd managed to open the door.
"Oof!" Air! Air would be great to have right now! But when two two going on three year olds jump on you it's a little hard to come by.
"Happy birthday daddy!" Twins, even fraternal ones will speak in unison when excited it seems. "Get up daddy! It's morning!"
"Nngh, It's too early to be awake. Ow! What was that for Shiki?" Neku had never been a morning person and would have gladly slept in another hour givin' half the chance. Children and a elbow to the gut put a dent in that plan however.
"Don't you have something else to say?" Oh yes, she'd settled well into her role as a mother. It was a smug thought but he'd always known she'd do well as a mother. "Happy birthday love."
"Sonova--Oof! I get it I get it! Happy birthday Josh. Don't tell us how old you are, the kids don't need to know you're a geriatric." As smooth as ever that Neku.
"I am -not- a geriatric. Though, it is a very good birthday."
