It had been a week since she'd come back. Since that terrible game had finally ended. And two days since she'd gotten to see him again. He was everything she remembered and more and she couldn't help her pounding heart or blushing cheek when he finally looked her way. She still remembered that look in his eyes when it finally settled in that he was looking at the -real- Shiki. That stunned look of disbelief. It had hurt, God it had hurt so much. This was the -real- her. She wasn't ugly or deformed or anything like that so why that look?
Of course, after spending a week (And imaginary extra day) with such a beautiful girl who wouldn't be dissapointed to be stuck with someone so plain afterwards? Someone with such an awkward stance and odd build. Of course she'd seen it coming. Who wouldn't? She held no delusions that she was pretty or attractive in any sense. But she'd finally come to accept that this was her and nothing would change that. Even that boy, Joshua she thought his name was, that had visited her from time to time in that void had never looked at her like that.
There had been no expetation in -his- eyes. No dissapointment. Yes, he'd said things that made her uncomfortable, taunted her helplessness from time to time. But he never gave her a look like she'd let him down just by being who she was. And even if he had none of that would have hurt as much a that single look from Neku.
