Notes: AU. Shikamaru meets an inspiring runner who steals his heart at first glance when his sensei takes him down to the track to meet his little trackstar.
Shikamaru sighed as he passed rows upon rows of stands as his teacher, known as Asuma-sensei to most people, walked ahead of him, smoke trailing behind him whisking away through the air. The younger male waved the trails away from his face, coughing a little before scowling at the man. Couldn't he smoke somewheresle for once?!
"You'll like him, Shikamaru," came Asuma's voice as he continued walking. "He's a blond, like Naruto with bright blue eyes and a slim form--"
"I thought I told you not to talk about him, dammit--"
"ASUMA-SENSEI?!"
Shikamaru's eyes widened as a small blur made it's way towards them headed straight for Asuma before pouncing, hugging him around the middle.
"Hi to you too, Chouji," Asuma replied once he had regained his breath.
Blue eyes glanced behind the man to see a tallish, tanned teen sporting a spiky ponytail staring directly at him. His cheeks turned bright pink and he looked away shyly for a moment before turning his eyes back on the other male.
"Hello," he said softly, offering a small smile.
Shikamaru ignored the heat on his own cheeks and offered a smirk seeing the blond's blush.
"Hey," he replied, the wheels already turning in his brain.
He was going to have to come to this track more often. . .
