Last week was an interesting week for me. I had three(3) tests. Geography on monday which was cake. Religion on tuesday which I remembered at the last minute wasn't on thursday and somehow managed to study for it the 2 hours I had before the class. My final test was gov't and what a whopper that was. I walked out of there like I usually walk out of Calc tests: exhausted as hell. So it was stressful. But that's not all. Wednesday (before the gov't test) my car decided it was going to fuck up beyond complete and utter belief. Here's what happened:
I was getting ready for school as I normally do every day. I get to the first red light in my car (2 minutes from my house) and I notice that the car is vibrating really really rough while it's idling. So light turns green and I hit the gas and my car BARELY inches foreward and somehow avoids stalling out. It finally picks up and starts moving, and then I notice that my check engine light is on, so I'm like "Fuck I better go back home." So I turn around in a gas station and head home. I try my dad at work; No answer, probably at a meeting. So I call his gf, she's home and thinks the fuel injector might be clogged which would explain why it was idling rough. So we go get some cleaner for it in her car (I've already missed Calc by this point) and come back home. Put it in, go fill up my tank w/ gas and head to school. She informed me that the check engine light would be on for about 3 tanks of gas till it was cleaned, so I should drive it and get it squared away. So I'm driving it again now and I hop on the freeway and something just doesn't feel right to me. It's really fighting hard to 60 mph and it's slowly inching up towards 70. It almost felt like it would if it was in 1st gear all the way. I get off the freeway and stop at the first light. Light turns green, blam car almost stalls out like it did before. But it moves on. The next light is where I have problems. It's the left turn lane to go onto my campus. I'm behind a line of cars. When the light turns green my car dies completely. I end up having to call my dad to come get it. He gets it started (someone helped me push it off the road) and drives it down to the mechanic. Ultimately the final diagnosis was that I had a blown headgasket (at 70k miles ?!?!) and the headers got warped (it was overheating on the trip to the mechanic).
To fix it:
Drop another honda civic engine in it and put my new water pump and timing belt (work i had done a month ago preparing for winter). This has 50k miles on it...not too bad.
Price:
$850
Chris's bank account:
-$600
Money spent on car in the last 1.5 months:
$1170
My dad is going to have to foot the bill for my engine for now because I don't have the money. Lousy week. Very lousy week.
Sorry for the length.
