It's all about the plot. The idea is intriguing, and if you're a R/T fan and in denial about their death (I'm not, but never mind that), you're probably going to want to believe this is canon. The strongest point here is way the author manages to work around canon, finding loopholes to pull together the plot. At the very least, it's an interesting journey to read!
