This story has everything I absolutely adore in fanfic. It looks at the characters pre-canon, with little nods to the peripheral details in the PJO world, and daily life at camp. It fleshes out the minor characters more and takes a good hard look at Luke's previous relationship with Thalia without it being thrown in your face. The story is light and Christmas-themed, using descriptions and narrative to show the emotions between the lines. It hits the perfect tone of bitterness mingled with hope and loss and uncertainty that works extremely well for Luke at this age.
