Why you should read this …
This is a truly insightful piece that handles the themes surrounding immortality vs. mortality very neatly. It’s an AU that really gets you thinking because it explores the choice Percy could have made post-Battle of Manhattan (and very well might have chosen had Annabeth been offered it along with him). The author clearly put a lot of thought into the kind of gods they would be (from their specific areas to how they embody them) as well as the ramifications of godhood. It doesn’t shy away from the idea that Percy and Annabeth would take on the fickle natures of immortals. Rather a realistic picture of the environment shaping their behaviour in terms of dalliances and demigod children. Heartbreaking for a hardcore Percy/Annabeth shipper, but so much more believable. The ending (which I won’t spoil) mirrors canon beautifully and brings them back together.
