This is the side to the Lavender fiasco we never got to see - Ron's mind, which is adorably 16 and clueless, even as he very obviously likes Hermione, you can see the anger and the hurt and overall confusion that plagues him. The author shows perfectly how the story arrived at Ron/Lavender during this particular phase and it's both cute, hilarious, and even a bit sad when you think of all the misunderstanding that went into the whole debacle.
Why you have to read it, though, is because it is so, so Ron.
