HP 20th Anniversary reread chpt 16
Chapter 16: Through the Trapdoor
This one's a long one, but it goes so fast!
- If I'm not wrong, this is where the characteristic 'I shouldn't'a said that' comes from Hagrid. I think it's the first time he actually said those words. Funny how it's become his stereotype. The movies really had a lot to do with that!
- I'm totally having images of a simultaneously amused and annoyed Snape confronting the trio, and you KNOW he's just using Legilimency on them and he knows they suspect him and I can see his lip curling right now (my mental Snape doesn't quite look like Alan Rickman's though) at the knowledge.
- I wonder if anyone actually put Peeves up to meddling in the corridors Harry would have to pass to get to the third floor, just as a precaution. Except Harry was just too smart for his own good.
- I'm surprised Hermione thinks they're 'miles' beneath the school. They were on the third floor and they fell at least three floors. If they were to actually fall for miles, I don't care what sort of landing there was, they'd probably be dead. I'm probably making too much of this, since it's just an expression. :p
- 'Are you a witch or not?' I think this is still one of my favourite lines in this book. :)
- Harry thinking about Gringotts and meeting a full grown dragon made me grin. Oh, just wait a couple of years, guys.
- This is so Ron's book. The chess game. Oh, that chess game. <3 And besides that, to be honest I think it was throughout PS/SS that he became the most endearing of the trio to me.
- I loved the logic puzzle. I used to draw pictures of the bottles and try and work out exactly how it looked (we have to assume a bit, since the line up is never described perfectly) and pretend to solve it myself. It may have even cemented my current interest in logic puzzles. When I found in 2010 that England actually sells them in all the bookshops, I was delighted. And still have some logic puzzle books, you know, for fun and relaxation and all ... :p
- Dum dum dum cliffhanger time. If this was a WIP fanfic the author would have got a million reviews going WHATWHATWHAT UPDATE PLEEEEEASE
And no chapterfic yet because I'm dry at the moment. My academic and Big Bang deadlines (not that either are particularly pressing at the moment, but it just compels me to work on those) have got me focused on getting down those things instead.
