Why it probably pays to pay more attention to fic length before starting.

I wouldn't be sucked into an intriguing hp_canon_fest fic without realising that it's nearly 40K words and need to leave it halfway to go for an appointment.

Damn, I want to finish it. It is SO GOOD. I have a new canon fest favourite and I haven't even reached the end of the fic!

(In fact I think what will happen when I get back home later is I'll end up reading from the start again to relish the whole thing at one go.)

ETA: Okay, I know it's a super long fic, but if you have a free evening or something, this should definitely be on your list of things to read.

The House That Cedric Built (Draco/Asteria, other pairings in background, R, Draco didn't think there was much reason to hope for a better future. Asteria proved him wrong.)

This is so much more than just pairing fic. It is a bloody brilliant post-war rebuilding-the-wizarding-world sort of fic. No, seriously, it's amazing and you have to read it.

hp_canon_fest, fic recs, wow
