Christmas morning Missy woke me up by jumping on my head and licking my face. I got both girls downstairs and they both KNEW it was Christmas. After a short trip to the backyard Missy ran to the tree and grabbed her toy that was on top of her new bed and took off with it. She came back a few seconds later when Tori was getting help opening the gift Santa Paws had left them- a big box of biscuits! They then opened up the puppy popcorn from Erik and I, and headed to the stockings. Missy got a Santa toy, Chicken Jerky treats, and Q-tips (she has gross little ears & gets lots of ear infections). Tori got a snowman toy, Chicken Jerky treats, and a smaller box of Q-Tips (her ears are less gross). Both girls also got some special soft dog food in their stockings. The biggest gift was the new bed. It will take some time for them to get used to it, but Missy was sleeping on it tonight. It is a fleece covered bed from L.L. Bean with their names embroidered on the top. Soooooooo cute, and I think they like it!
We then headed upstairs and opened up the gifts from Erik's parents. We are soooooooo totally spoiled. We each got a $250 American Express Gift card!!!! I got a red Gap turtleneck, a cute top from Lucky Jeans, a little black formal evening bag, a Tea & Honey Yankee Jar Candle, a knitting book for dog clothes, ornaments, and a whole mess of other amazing stuff. We opened up gifts from each other then....
Erik got me a $50 gift card for the sushi place I love, $50 gift card for the movies, a bunch of really beautiful ornaments, a car charger for my cell phone, another Yankee Jar Candle.... and this was on top of all the stocking stuff I had already opened which had included several gift cards and fun stuff! I got Erik a Red Robin gift card for $30, a $40 gift certificate for the Indian place he likes, two new tops, a tent fan for camping, and a whole mess of ornaments.
After morning gifts we headed down the street to my parents house to do it all again. Erik got a new, super nice tent from L.L. Bean for camping, a video camera (which he dubbed a "porn making camera" in front of my parents), new slippers, a pasta cooker.... and a million other things. I got a new food saver (mine broke recently), a Coach wristlet, Lost Season 2 on DVD, a label maker, slippers, calendar, pajamas, cute tee shirt, tons of face and body products from Origins and Bath & Body.... and again, a million other things. Need I say again how spoiled we are?
The big surprise was for my mom. My dad purchased a new flat screen LCD TV (32") for my mom and FINALLY installed cable in the house. The cable actually happened last Monday while they were at work and I sat at the house and waited for the cable guy. My mom was sooooo excited! We spent a long time hooking up the TV, and finally got everything working by afternoon. My dad's big gift was this thing for working under the car- it has wheels on it and you lay on it and slide around under there. It is super fancy and is all padded with a head rest and everything. He got a bunch of clothing as well from my mom. Erik and I got my parents a lot of gifts- dad got a rechargable flashlight (he has been wanting), Boston Legal Season 1 on DVD, a bottle of wine, and a thing for getting the honey out of his honey pot with a little bee on top. We gave mom a pretty scarf that I made, a new pyrex measuring cup (again- she wanted), a bunch of ornaments, a bottle of wine, and lots of little stuff I can't think of right now.
Gifts with my sister and her husband were the other night, and I will update about that at a later time.
We ate brunch with my parents- a traditional Christmas meal- bagels with whitefish salad and lox! Soooo good! My mom also made a lovely dinner of a rib roast, potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, creamed spinach, and salad. We did nothing but eat and open gifts all day. I am back home and wondering why I scheduled an appointment for 9 AM tomorrow. Note to self- next year don't work the day after Christmas.
I love Christmas!
