The MPAA ratings system for film is voluntary and industry-funded. There are no legal restrictions on distribution of non-pornographic films, and there have not been since 1952, when the Supreme Court ruled that film is protected speech under the First Amendment. (Fun fact: From 1915 to 1952, it totally wasn't!)

I know I should be used to this, but when a public figure just straight-up not-even-half-true lies, would it really kill the press to call them out on it, instead of serving as someone else's printing press and calling it a day?
