Yuletide Letter!

Oops, this took me a little longer than anticipated to get back to, apologies!

Dear Yuletide Author,

Thank you so much for sharing a tiny fandom with me, I'm super excited to see what you come up with and I hope you have an awesome time writing it!

My general likes are here - and feel free to nab anything from earlier exchange signups as well if it seems relevant.

In terms of magical tropes, I'm definitely on board for ghosts, demons, spirits and any other types of supernatural beasties. I like curse-breaking, witches, unusual or unexpected twists on stereotypes, and magic whether it's external or intrinsic, subtle or loud.

Magical transformation is cool, spell books and found items are also neat (I mean I didn't just finish a monkey's paw fic myself, or anything XD), as are telepathy, fire-control, and all kinds of magical gifts (or curses) - basically, go nuts.

Speaking more generally, I like: friends to lovers, found families, teaaaaaaam/squadron feelings, pining (preferably requited!), first times, humour, AUs (especially sf/fantasy type ones; x in SPACE!! is very much up my alley, for example, for the fandoms that aren't already there :D), competence porn, fake dating, had to get married for reasons, friends with benefits that grows into feelings, epistolary fic, plotty things, porny things, classic tropes being used for good or evil; basically I'm happy to be sold on anything.

I love slice-of-life type vignettes and fandomy hyper-specific details are awesome too; I love getting to see that sort of depth of feeling and information on a beloved tiny fandom. I also love seeing fictional takes that incorporate facts we may know about and put a new spin on them.

I like gen, slash and het, and will happily read and enjoy PWP if that's where the spirit moves you to go. Also, consensual non-monogamy is totally fine by me; as is people having history dating other people and that being OK and normal (and not a source of jealousy, preferably.) BDSM content is generally also cool with me; I just am not that into a/b/o AUs -- D/s dynamics outside of that are all good. Outsider POV is also really fun, and if anything more unusual (be that subject matter or formatting!) is your jam then I'm down with that, too.

I've copied my signup info below and will expand a little on it where I can, but honestly I'm super happy to have optional details be optional and if the story that grabs your attention isn't remotely like any of these then that is all good!

Overall my main DNWs are torture, rape/non-con and permanent character death, other DNWs are appended to the fandom they relate to.

Star Wars: X-Wing
(Any nominated character)

I would be thrilled with any and all characters from this fandom, including non-nominated characters. I prefer slash for this fandom (and love Face/Phanan, Wedge/Tycho and Wedge/Wes especially), but I also love the heck out of Iella so if the story that draws you involves her with Wedge then that's also great in my books. (Please no Qui Xux, though.)

X-Wing is the fandom of my heart, my forever girl, the fandom I've never grown tired of. I love all of the pilots -- the movie ones, the SW Legends ones, the comics ones, and if you don't want to restrict yourself to just the nominated characters then that's absolutely fine by me. I love the found family aspect of them, the dumb pilot pranks, the heroism even and especially in the face of overwhelming odds. The Wraiths are my favourites because it's hard not to empathise with a screw-up, and Aaron Allston's tone and sensitivity to nuance are something I've always loved and appreciated. Anything that touches on any of these characters would be cherished.

DNWs: Please avoid any genocide-related storylines (I'm not a fan of the Empire, the First Order or any similar entities), and while I wouldn't mind any sort of time skip forward if you want to write something that sets these characters in the period of the more recent movies, I'm also happy to consider that optional canon if you'd rather write something more speculative (or in line with any of the past Star Wars Baen books canon.)

Charmed (TV 2018)
(Mel, Maggie, Macy)

I love all the women in this new take on Charmed, and I love the sensibility of the show and the way it wears its priorities and its allegiances on its sleeve. If you can keep the spirit of the show--especially with regard to care towards minorities/marginalized folk, and especially the way they defend women who need help, then that would be great, but I'm open to most anything story-wise here. If you'd like to write a monster of the week, that'd be sweet, if you want to go mytharc or something more experimental, also feel free!

I'm also totally fine with pwp or romance stories about any or all of the sisters here, just no incest ships please. (If you want to make Macy or Maggie explore attraction to women that would also be golden; I love Mel/Niko and Mel/Jada too, or an OC female character would be great for Mel too.)

DNW: Please no incest for this fandom.

Lily's Garden (Video Game)
Regina (Lily's Garden) Lily (Lily's Garden)

Canon! Bi! Regina! Look, i'm shameless here, I want Lily/Regina, please and thank you.

If you're not into writing slash then a gen story about them (and including any of the other characters as well if you'd like to) would be lovely, but I ship them super hard and would love stories about that.

Feel free to either vanish or minimise Luke if need be, but don't demonise him (well, outside of Regina's normal level of giving him shit, which is fine)

I'm almost finished the game so don't worry about spoilers if you want to include canon details.

(And if you've never heard of the game and want to investigate fandoms we didn't match on, then let me recommend checking it out to see if you vibe with it - it's a free downloadable android/OS match three game that rewards you for passing levels by unlocking dialogue/plot elements as well as letting you 'design' a garden. It's a lot of fun and you can absolutely play 100% for free, although I would warn it does have microtransactions available in the app.)

The Great British Bake Off RPF

Selasi Gbormittah (GBBO RPF) Andrew Smyth (GBBO RPF)

Look they have been flirting over twitter/insta for a thousand years, I am about as shameless about this request as they are. XD

If you're not up for slash then a gen story about them would be fine, but mostly I want the GBBO romance novel and/or AU of all of our dreams. The, dare I say, show stopper. :D

Secret Circle - L. J. Smith

This is an 'any'/'or' request. I love Cassie deeply, and could happily ship her with Adam, Nick or Diana; if you want to diverge from the canon of the book then that is all fine by me. (Ooh, or a foursome would be lovely, I am Just Saying.)

Diana and Nick get the short end of the stick in a lot of ways in the book, and I'd love to see some more about them finding additional fulfillment to what they have with the rest of the coven, whether that's romantically, platonically or aromantically, tbh. I'd just prefer whatever you write to not be about them getting a 'consolation' relationship (the 'pair the spares' approach, I guess). I'd also love Nick/Adam or Nick/OMC, I feel like there could be a lot more hidden depths to all of these kids than what we see in the books. If you want to lean in hard to gen or to stories about magic then hat's also great, I read these books a thousand times as a teen and would love more, so feel free to go where your heart leads you.

Thank you again so so much for whatever you do end up writing! If you're at a loss and need to check how I feel about a particular trope or character or something like that, you can also always confidentially ask my bff R. (kathalcyon on twitter and katrin on livejournal) who will always be able to get in touch with me to ask without endangering your anonymity.
