Welp, today got busier than anticipated. O___O I had to do a mad dash to a sample site ~2 hours north of where I work this afternoon, so I was basically out of contact from midday onwards, and then I got more samples near the flat, and then I... went to the gym, and then I got home and was basically like "PAST CLAIRE, WHY DID YOU NOT PUT ANY OF THIS COKE IN THE FRIDGE??" because at that point I could've murdered cold fizzy drink, and would've taken the risk of "nowhere safe to put it in the shower" to drink it on the spot. However, because physics that didn't happen so I threw a can in the fridge, went to shower and did laundry and then flopped on the couch to my just reward. That said: memo to self, buy the most ridiculous sippy cup ever just in case, in future. :D
Kittenface has been busy being mildly under the weather, so the flatmates took her back to the vet and we're babying her at the moment and keeping her indoors. She's unimpressed with us, but also feverish, so tough luck. We've decided our #1 strategy for getting her to take her pills is going to be "drop it on the floor and say 'don't eat that!!'" though, because she is the most contrary miss. <3
Hockey has been, well, hockey. I've enjoyed most of the games I've been able to watch so far, although jfc, Oilers, what the shit was that first period at Rexall the other day. O___O Be better. :( Canes, ditto. :( Blackhawks: great shots kids, don't get cocky. Also new!Hawks twitter person is occasionally alarming. Heh. Mostly ALL OF THE HOCKEY IN MY FACE ALL OF THE TIME YAY AWESOME COOL. Sorry about how boring a person it makes me to everyone else. At least it's only a short season this year...? (NOT MY OPINION, HOBVIOUSLY.)
I'm making progress in trip planning -- I think at this point I just need-- wait, I got travel insurance yesterday, so I just need my rental car in LA? And, like, food and public transit and stuff. So that's exciting and awesome. Oh, duh, Dave; we need to figure out if Kings vs Wild is doable or not. But then I'm basically sorted. #overachiever #controlfreak #VirgoTypical #onlywayinwhichIam
This coming weekend we get a three day weekend; I naturally plan to watch as much hockey as I can and should also do some gardening (it's down in getyedone as "clear the western corridor of orcs!" because NERD), but also L has been threatening to hold a "get drunk and read Fifty Shades aloud" party -- the NSFW invite of which naturally went to my work email lolsobsigh -- so I guess that may be happening, or at least we'll be trying to get L drunk enough that he forgets his plan. :D?
Aaaaand since I am wiped even though it's only 10pm, I'm going to round things off with the meme I just stole from Q and Maple while Blade and I watch Star Trek on the shiny TV. <3
Last Car Ride: Last time in a car was my unplanned dash to the grocery store for replacement tortillas when we realised the emergency burrito kit was "best before 2010". Welp. Last time being driven somewhere was probably whenever L last drove us to pick up takeout.
Last Kiss: ...MJ 2009? I. Have. No. Game. lolsob, etc.
Last Good Cry: I got surprise "Wake Up"'-d by my car stereo (really, self; you put in the 2005 pre-show CD, WHAT WERE YOU EXPECTING TO HAPPEN?) on the way back from the coffee shop before Hawks-Kings on Sunday. I really want to rewatch Chicago again, fwiw, unsurprisingly. Maybe one day I'll work up to rewatching Slane. OH NO WAIT I TELL A LIE I totally fucking teared up listening to the home opener on the radio call. And then my coworker walked in. :/ I JUST HAVE A LOT OF FEELINGS OKAY.
Last Library Book: boo, the library apparently doesn't save your loaning history anymore? Or at least it won't show up for me. :( Boo. It was most likely one of the Jack Campbell books. Which I recommend to people who like SF/space opera-y stuff!
Last book bought: oh god there's a question. I was about to be all "it could be one of [five options]" because I went on a pre-Xmas presents for myself spree, but I just remembered I also bought 2 of the Trixie Belden 'Quiz' books on trademe ($1! \adulthood/) AND what looks like a fabulously terrible romance novel called Chasing Stanley (guess what it's about. just guess. stop judging me. I have a plan okay.) also off trademe, so it'd be whichever of those I paid for second.
Last Book Read: the most recently finished book was On Basilisk Station earlier this week but right now I'm flipping between fic, Gretzky's Tears, A Wizard Alone, the new GRR Martin (still stalled on it, fuck you torture scenes :( ), Honor of the Queen, the new Percy Jackson that I can't for the life of me remember the title of (it's in my room) and Solo Command. God, no wonder I adapted to tab-hopping like the proverbial duck to water.
Last Movie Seen in Cinema: Pitch Perfect! A+++ would see again why isn't it out on DVD yet whyyyy I mean I've seen it ~around but YKWIM.
Last Movie Rented: I rented a shitload of DVDs on the cheap from the store I used to work at when I was house-sitting before Christmas. The only ones I remember picking up were the Emperor's New Groove, Slap Shot (which I'd never seen and didn't realise how much I'd assimilated already), Ocean's 11 and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.
Last Swear Word Uttered: odds are it was some variation of fuck. <= what Maple said.
Last Beverage Drunk: I'm finishing off my second coke, because apparently today is a day of backsliding on my caffeine intake. (I bought coffee this morning and had 2 black coffees at work uhhhhh oops?)
Last Food Consumed: I'm really glad the answer to this is "maltesers" because explaining the shitshow that was the planning vs execution of our actual dinner is a thing I'd rather avoid doing again. SORRY TWITTER.
Last Crush: idk, I don't think I do crushes per se at the moment? Substitution -- People I think are wicked hot and would at least seriously consider banging in the unlikely event etc etc: Brittany Snow, Jordan Eberle, Duncan Keith, Emma Watson, Archie Panjabi
Last 'phone call: my boss, at work.
Last TV Show Watched: We caught up on Revenge last night.
Last Time Showered: when I finally got home this afternoon!
Last Shoes Worn: accidentally wore slippers to the grocery store because by the time I realised I couldn't be arsed to go back inside the house for my flipflops.
Last Song Played: Josh Ritter's the Curse. Like I just said on tumblr, I need to rip that out of my most-played playlist at the moment before I get to the point where I'm crushed when he doesn't play it live.
Last Item Bought: ...emergency tortillas AND A BAG OF JET PLANES BECAUSE I WAS HAVING A MOMENT.
Last Download: Betan dollars to sand it was a picture from either the Oiler's home opener or Sharpy and Kaner's goal celebration in the Hawk's home opener.
Last Annoyance: myself, for not checking the expiry date before starting to cook.
Last Disappointment: OILERS. >:(
Last Soda Drank: delicious coke is delicious.
Last Thing Written: Duncs/Seabs chatfic I need to tidy up and post. Alternately: "please be careful driving on our site there are now extra giant trucks which might be coming around a blind corner! :D? :D?" email to our customers. /o\
Last Key Used: front door.
Last Words Spoken: "Impressed!" (Blade was deciphering my 'written leaning across the seat onto a mailing bag while stopped at traffic lights' scrawl notes from the last survey I did.)
Last Sleep: Last night.
Last Ice Cream Eaten: I had some of the raspberry white choclate.
Last Chair Sat In: Desk in the soils lab this morning?
Last Webpage Visited: twitter.
Last Store you went into: New World. See above re: tortillas.
...that was a boring last question. Hrm. Adding another question!
Last thing that made you laugh: the cat just had a small problem with linoleum. LOVE U PHYSICS!! :D
In conclusion: Ray Kowalski you should all be rly rly glad I cordoned off my attacks of terrible puns/fantasy team names over on tumblr. The torrent of ideas has mostly slowed but occasionally I giggle for no obvious reason. Oh well. Let's be real: it's not the worst thing my coworkers have seen me do.
