PSA: Actual serious post: Proposition 8 Protests

Dec 04, 2008 21:57

Okay, I swear this is my last post for the evening, but I've been wanting to highlight this for a while. I'm pretty sure much of my flist - especially the US-based part - is right there with me on thinking it's appalling that proposition 8 passed in California in the US election this November (as well as various other homophobically tilted legislation in other states, of course). As most of you are probably aware, there's been a bunch of protests about it since, and there are legal challenges currently underway (more power to them).

A few people I know have been able to go to some of these protests, and I've loved hearing about them and seeing the pictures, but what I wanted to point as many people as I can in the direction of are nodogsonbeach's pictures and reports from the protests in LA (and later Sacramento) that he attended. Dave is an amazing photographer - which I don't say lightly, he really is - and there are some absolutely stunning shots that he has up from the protests, as well as some good information, and I figured a bunch of you would probably be interested.

Santa Monica pt 2 (48 pics, image heavy)

And Dave's prop 8 tag for the earlier photos and posts.

And because bayleaf just posted it and if anyone hasn't seen it yet they SHOULD, Proposition 8: the Musical. (PS Kat you REALLY NEED TO WATCH THIS OKAY.)

Icon a veeeeeeeery fucked with version of a gorgeous picture from the Santa Monica protest. /disclaimer
